Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Beat me to it.
Though I remember the line as "Fill your hand, you sweet puppy."
Haven't seen that movie in several decades, though. I remember being irritated that Kim Darby never uttered a contraction.
I had looked at a clip before posting, but I went back and John Wayne does indeed say it your way.:thumbsup: And @flatblackcapo's subsequent pic of the relevant page in the novel shows that the film is consistent with the book. I think I imposed my own pluralization because I thought he was talking to all 4 bad guys.

I also thought I had read the story in a magazine, not a book. Wikipedia tells me that it was originally published as a serial in The Saturday Evening Post, which we always received a couple of weeks after the cover date from Grandma, who subscribed to the magazine.

Thank you, Gary. It looks like Black Jack is acquiring some good honest wear.:thumbsup:
I was tempted by the tasty looking meat pies but I have a hard time paying 5 times what the pies would cost in shipping.
It looks like I might need to figure out how to make them myself.:D

Cool photo of your dog, FBC!:thumbsup: Earlier today, my wife was showing me online photos of what I'd guess was the same breed; she was amused/amazed by the dog's apparent smile when its mouth was closed. :)
Thanks for the remark on Black Jack. :)
I never made it far enough into the pie website to actually see shipping costs - not brave enough, I guess!
And thanks for the True Grit pic; after having watched the film clip and then read the scene in the book, it reminded me of how impressed I was that the dialog in the movie script was quite faithful to the book.

That irritated me too about Jeannie in the "I Dream of Jeannie" television series.
I think you're right about "hand", though.
Funny, it didn't bother me when Jeannie refused to utter a contraction. I think I watched that show fairly religiously; not like there'd have been much choice with 2.5 channels.

Rooster's previous line was addressed to one person: "I aim to kill you in five minutes, Ned...."
Then again, Rooster filled both of his hands. One of filmdom's greatest scenes.

Wow! Couldn’t ask for a better cranberry around Thanksgiving time. You must be elated.

And, good to see you here, buddy.

Fantastic job on the red bone refit, that's a nice Lambsfoot addition. Another fine rework job by glennbad.

Russell

Oh my, such awesome jigging. What a fine lambsfoot. Genn's work never disappoints.
Have a great day Guardians. :)View attachment 1027094

Now that's one nice looking lambsfoot, I could go for a series just like that.:thumbsup: :)

:thumbsup::thumbsup: What a look! Hope this will give'em some ideas...The red is striking.

Wow Dylan, that is stunning! :) Fantastic work by @glennbad  Sorry to hear you got sold a couple of lemons, unfortunately it's not uncommon with UK vendors. Wright's have only had that tang stamp a couple of years, so the stock couldn't have even been THAT old  You have something really special now though, interesting choice of covers, do you know if Glenn did the jigging himself? I'm sure that's a Lambsfoot you'll enjoy carrying my friend

I have really enjoyed reading about all the celebrations Dylan :) That looks spectacular

Absolutely sensational jigging, Dylan, and the color fits your rojo mojo!:thumbsup::cool: Glenn done you proud!:cool::thumbsup:

Really nice, really really nice , Dylan!

@glennbad nicely done!

Every cloud has a silver lining. That's very nice work  And certainly better looking than the coloured jigged bone A.Wright's offer.

Thank you all for the kind compliments, fellas (hopefully I didn't miss anybody), and many apologies for taking so long to respond. Been letting my attention lapse a bit with the forums due to life's busy turns.

It is a much finer knife with Glenn's work and I really couldn't be happier. I cannot recall if he did the jigging himself or not. Needless to say, it is rather quite fine regardless.

Carrying it again with me today.

Boy, time is going fast. Wasn't it Thanksgiving just a few days ago?

Happy Hanukkah, Guardians!
Happy Hanukkah, Rachel! According to a recent Ancestry DNA test I took, I'm part Jewish. Maybe I should celebrate too! I do have a menorah... have to get some candles.

You need to post that in the Holiday Thread, it's not only for Christmas.
There's a Holiday Thread? I'll have to look for that. :)

Sure, you've got eight days to get to it.:thumbsup: I've got a group of friends who believe in celebrating any holiday they can. On the 25th, we have a big ChristmaSolsticeHanukKwanzakah party. :p

"True Grit".

Edit: I should have read further; Jer beat me to it.

Bearing in mind the context, I don't know what I was thinking of when I made that post! I was ready for my bed! :D Mind you, it is a very long time since I saw True Grit, not since I was a kid I think (re-make aside). Thank you for educating me folks, I'll have to seek out the book

I think your English weather has more fortitude than our English weather. It cleared up a couple hours later and turned into a fine day for dog walking and Lambsfoot totin'. I'm sorry to hear that your English weather is so stubbornly holding on.

Oh, it's stubborn for sure Kevin, we've had rain for the past fortnight o_O It looks like it turned into a lovely day there, those are great pics :) That's a Duvel glass I got free from a local bar some years back, I like it as a beer-tasting glass ;) Another fantastic True Grit pic

. . . because it helps me cut corners.

How 'bout you?

Pile side.

Great stuff Vince! :D

What about Festivus? I love the Airing of Grievances!

:D

Thanks!

And Feats of Strength! My family manages to do the Airing of Grievances at Thanksgiving.

We do that year-round!

My grandmother used to say that she and my granddad went to Loggerheads for their holidays :D From what my mother has told me they were there a lot! :D

I hope everyone had a great weekend, good crack* here on The Porch :) I'm starting off the week with my Ashley's Choice Lambsfoot - always a struggle to keep it out of my pocket! :rolleyes:Have a good week folks :)

* - 'Crack' rather than 'craic' because the word originated in northern England and Scotland rather than Ireland, and is wrongly Gaelicised according to Irish scholars ;) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craic https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/...t-all-that-its-cracked-up-to-be-34463086.html

I had to rescue this thread from almost making it back to Page 3! For shame!

Dylan hope you don't mind I am putting this photo on my desktop for the week.:thumbsup:

Not at all, my friend, I am pleased and flattered that you enjoy it.

Thank you, Jack. I am going to try and chime in a bit more often.

I had the good ol' Ebony today. Always a pleasing choice, a very fine knife.
