Enjoyed the market report and pics! The market was fairly quiet today, but we had a good stream of regulars nonetheless. It tried to rain a few times, but generally the weather wasn't too bad - Fair to middlin', as they say in Yorkshire
Long-time early morning Tool Stall regular, Mel, picked up this cool Hardy's deadbait rig, still in the box, a nice find on Leeds market
Tool Man about to devour one of several breakfast sandwiches!Golden Gordon's expression speaks for many of us (the Civilised World)!

Boring Ray told me he had a silver Sheffield-made milk jug, from 1836, among the rest of the notoriously overpriced junk on his stall. I could see it was actually EPNS (Electro Plated Nickel Silver) immediately, but when he mentioned 'Alpha', the mark of cutlers Harrison Brothers & Howson, my interest was piqued.
I had to point out that 1836 was the date Harrison Brothers & Howson was established, which was clearly stated on the base, had he bothered to look properly, but it turned out the piece was actually made by the thoroughly disreputable Viners of Sheffield, who sadly must have acquired the Harrison Brothers mark. I doubt it's any older than the 1980's, if that!Sadly, I had to further trample on Ray's dreams by showing him another, in much better condition, selling on ebay for less than a fiver!
Tool Man and Harry Hot Balls discuss Harry's disastrous cycling career! Tool Man is inseparable from his mug, which is actually an aluminium imitation GI canteen mug, with the handles bound together with copper wire, so they don't even have the advantage of folding!
Trick or Treater of the week was this young lady, whose face was covered in dark make-up in a spider's web pattern!
Barry The Original Ted was out dancing at the weekend apparently!
The old Teds bristled when they spotted this character, who they didn't know, with some Teddy Boy styleI thought there was going to be a punch-up!
They didn't like the seam in the back of his jacket at all!

Since there were were quite a few faces around mid afternoon, I thought I'd take a pic. Tool Man will pose at the merest glimpse of a camera, but Boring Ray, as usual, has his eyes closed on each of the 10 photos I took, Scott is looking in a completely different direction on 9 of them, and Old Brian has his finger in his ear on the first 6, and is looking elsewhere on all of them!
I hope you're all having a good day Guardian'sI'm about to pop the cork on a bottle of Barossa Valley Shiraz, and start watching Season 2 of Sci-Fi Western Outer Range. Got to be right up your alley @JohnDF !

Thank you kindly! That was a good grab buddy, sweet old Lamb !
Lovely!
Thanks for the interesting information! In 1928, Savory & Moore acquired Veterinary Instrument Maker Arnold & Sons, who among other things, made knives, and a Lambsfoot certainly has a veterinary application. However, the knife may have been made for them before that acquisition. They were a large company with more than 60 branches

Thanks friend!Wonderful bone on that dignified oldie!
Making progress!
I received this lambsfoot from Ashwin yesterday. It is a real beauty. Crisp clean action (about a 6 pull), flush in all three positions, perfectly centered, shield inlet flawless and remarkable hackberry scales with wine g10 liners. Ashwin is a great guy to work with!

That is some awesome burl, Kurt.Enjoying a cup of coffee this overcast morning in Santa Cruz. It’s a bit wet too…some light drizzle. The only critters that have shown up are some squirrels.Squirrels grunt a lot. They’re amusing to watch. The turkeys must be sleeping in. We do have some new turkey babies about. Thought I would carry an Albers today. Good Thursday to you.

I did a bit of plinking late last night, with a couple of slingshots I'd virtually forgotten about. I also took delivery of some .68 calibre blood-red paintballs I thought it might be fun to shoot with the kids!Yup, that's what the slingshot is for!![]()
Rock = clean?!![]()
Interesting, I was thinking that rock must be hard work, but I guess it's clean and doesn't hang up the drill. Thangs to giving me something (I know nothing about) to think aboutThat's right! Rock is good with this type of drill.
Handsome Mitch
We're lucky to have those mateGood early evening, Guardians. Started my work week today. Got this awesome Charlie lamb with me.

Thanks David, no real excitement for a while, just a bunch of old gits talking rubbish and eating cake!Enjoyed the market report and pics!![]()
Cool pic Ken
Thanks Paul, it's always nice when we get visits from folks who haven't been down for a while. Gravel, standing on the left, actually went to school with Tool Man!Looks like an awesome visit to the market. I hope I can make it over there before the “modernizing”. Would love to spend a day there and dig into boring Ray’s mind and watch the magnificent Tool Man take down some chow.
Friends lamb is looking great, Jack.
Thanks a lot mateCool picture, Jack.

Interesting, I was thinking that rock must be hard work, but I guess it's clean and doesn't hang up the drill. Thangs to giving me something (I know nothing about) to think aboutBarry The Original Ted spent a couple of years drilling in South America, and often brings his old photos, and regales us with the same stories

Thanks Paul, it's always nice when we get visits from folks who haven't been down for a while. Gravel, standing on the left, actually went to school with Tool Man!He had some time off work a couple of years back, after injuring his shoulder, and used to hang out with us, but then he went back to work. Recently, he was made redundant, so he's back
Harry Hot Balls lives in an old mining town, called Normanton, and has the broadest Yorkshire accent imaginable. He has had a series of electric bicycles, which has been quite disastrous, as he keeps falling off. He was complaining about his latest model, and Tool Man was trying to chisel him out of it!
![]()
We were ruminating about the state of the market, yesterday, as we often do, and Tool Man reckoned that, even 15 years ago, it still had the flavour of the old market from his boyhood, but since then it has really gone from bad to worse
For something so small, Boring Ray's mind remains surprisingly unexplored!
He's a nice guy though
If you do get the opportunity to see Tool Man eating, I can only offer the following advice, stand well back!
Thanks a lot mate![]()
