Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm trying to lose a few pounds, so no Sunday Sausage Sandwich today I'm afraid

No...sausage sandwich...??? We may as well lock the thread, turn off our computers and all go home... :D

I missed your post mate, we were posting at the same time! :D That is shocking news about the Black Gold! :D Great to see you here David, and thanks for the compliment on my Albino, as I have started to think of it - it was hard to get a decent pic of it yesterday as it is so white it kind of skews the light settings on the camera, and looks kind of alien in a woodland environment - like a deadly mushroom! Consequently, I filtered most of my pics  Hope work is bearable my friend, and that we'll see you here again soon

Albino? I like the name Jack. Do you have a picture of the backspring? It looks like there's some filework there.

An apt name, Jeff. :D My AC shall be, henceforth, known as Waldo!

Well, I have been meaning to do this for awhile now and that is to get the Lambsfoot gang together for a little family shoot. It is, after all, the holiday season and everyone likes family photos, right?

I have been captivated by the Lambsfoot pattern ever since I saw Jack's Lambsfoot knives in the totin' thread however long ago and subsequently discovered his thread here. Ever since I received Rosie from @flatblackcapo (thank you again, my friend) it has all been downhill from there. I always have a Lambsfoot on hand and though I may not take pictures of one every day and post it, you can be well assured that I have one on my person.

It is, without a doubt, one of the most versatile and useful patterns in my burgeoning collection.

Here is my rather modest assortment so far (destined to continue growing, I'm sure).

Glamour shot!

Over the time that I have spent on these forums, acquiring knowledge, developing likes and dislikes, I have been able to conclude with relative certainty that the three Lambsfoot knives you see below are ones that are constructed using my favorite cover materials: Black Ebony, Red Bone, and Gnarly Stag. I like other covers as well, but those three are ones that will catch my fancy every time.

Getting my Lambsfoot knives together for a photo shoot made me realize that is has been a little while since I've carried this little beauty so in the pocket she went for today.

That's quite a family you there, and there's certainly nothing modest about them  And a beautiful shot of the ox-horn there

I've just been catching up with the last couple of days reading about everyone's bad backs and the like. I fractured my L4 vertebrae in a road accident when I was 15 but which healed well. However by the time I was 24 the sciatica was so bad I could barely feel my right leg. Tried lots of things but eventually bit the bullet and went to an oesteopath, who after a few sessions had completely cured the problem. I've had a "weak back" ever since but never had a touch of sciatica in over 20 years now.
So if you've not tried oesteopathy I can highly recommend it.

I've been looking at Wright's lambsfoot with "shaped handle". They say it's thinner, and it has more sway and swell than the usual.

Accurate prophesy, Jack; definitely a lot of Guardians traffic over the weekend!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hmmm...at this rate we'll reach 600 pages by Christmas! ;)

Great pics from your walk, Jack!:thumbsup::cool: I do quite a bit of walking these days, but almost exclusively on city sidewalks through residential neighborhoods. Pleasant, but not extremely visually stimulating.

Thank you GT, I do a lot of urban walking too, always have, but I have suffered with my feet these past 10 years. I still walk everywhere, but it's painful :(

I'm always around, but sometimes I do much more reading than posting. ;)

:)

I like the names on the ACs; I wonder how many we can actually identify?

@JoeGoblyn , @AShearer , @Archie , @waynorth , @Jody744 , @rockman0 , @Travman , and @pmew will check in and have a go at identifying their knives :thumbsup:

Obviously your doc has completed a highly-acclaimed medical illustration program! :D

LOL! :D I had about 8 weeks of physio just recently (plus about 10 weeks of remedial gym and 6 weeks of Occupational Therapy). The first Physio was very helpful, and she'd show me exercises, then disappear for a few minutes, and then give them to me as a series of printed photographs (just like donn donn 's below). She moved to a different job, so for the last two sessions I had a different Physiotherapist. This worked out pretty well because she had suffered with long-term back problems herself, and gave me some really good advice. I was asking about one particular exercise, and she said she'd print me something off, but then returned with the little stick men drawings! :D

Well-said, Dylan; "Lambsfoot ambassador" is an excellent description of at least one important aspect of Jack's role!:thumbsup::cool:

This week, I'll carry my Man Jack (thanks, @R.c.s ):

Thanks GT :) Great to see your Man Jack :)

Thank you, my friend, I remember many years ago my wife and I were in Hong Kong on a holiday. In the mornings I would watch a large group of seniors practicing tai chi in the park and thought that's pretty cool. maybe this ole bugger can learn the art of tai chi :)I'm thinking that would be a great exercise routine to develop.

Go for it Dave, I know a couple of people who practice Tai Chi and they swear by it :) Certainly can't do it any harm

LOL! :D Thanks David, the back-spring is file-worked and the entire liner is coined

Really nice Dave

I've been looking at Wright's lambsfoot with "shaped handle". They say it's thinner, and it has more sway and swell than the usual.

Do you have a link Jer, they're useless at describing their patterns (well the bloke who runs there website is)?

Amazing lambs Dylan. I'd pick those three and the ox horn.

Your photo of that rosewood lambsfoot is a beautiful one, too, Dwight!!
Thank you sir.
This week, I'll carry my Man Jack
Man Jack is looking fine this day.

I hope Dave and Dwight and everyone else who's dealing with health/medical concerns can see improvement ASAP! :( Dwight, are your shoulder problems rotator cuff related? Dave, I'm another proponent of exercise and stretching to keep sciatica flare-ups at bay
He's thinking probably torn ligament. X-rays did show some small bone spur below shoulder plate also. Mri is coming up just as soon as insurance gives green light. Thanks for asking GT. It's just what comes with staying above ground. :)

donn donn - David that horn on your lamb is so beautiful and worn looking.
dc50 dc50 and Jack Black Jack Black - magnificent horn all around fellows!

Havagoodn y'all

Congrats ..

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my idle speculations, Jack. :) I'll probably never become a good photographer due to my mundane aesthetic sense - I LIKE that unfiltered pic of your AC. I seem to remember that mrknife mrknife posted something about some pre-knife hobbies taking more of his time again. But I also saw a recent post in which he showed off a GEC #85 he acquired.

indeed, watches! watches, knives, coins and harmonicas theyve always been hobbies! too many hobbies actually, well too much collecting lately left me with some hobby fatigue. A little restructuring will help with perspective.

Thanks for the grand group shots of your lambsfoots, Dylan!:cool::thumbsup: Your favorite trio is sublime!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Amazing lambs Dylan. I'd pick those three and the ox horn.

Thank you, fellas, always appreciated.

It is hard to not have this bit of Stag with me. A very pleasing knife.

I never thought we would get this far, but I see this thread is steadfastly moving towards 500 pages, (happily coinciding with the festive season), and I have been thinking about celebrating the impending milestone with a giveaway for everyone who has helped us to get here :) I was looking for something a few days ago, and came across one of the 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot knives in ebony, so I thought it would make an appropriate prize :) So, here's how it works, if you want to enter, just make a post indicating you're in, and guess the date (Yorkshire time! ;) ) when we'll reach 500 pages. It's open to anyone who has made a post in this thread before today. If you get the date right, I'll put your name, together with the other posters who guessed the same date, and randomly select a winner. The prize is the ebony '18 below. If you are a Guardian who already has one of those knives, you can, if you wish, opt instead to have one of the 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot knives (which I'll obviously stump up for! :D). Apart from having previously posted in this thread, the only condition is that you agree to carry and use the knife, and post some pics. Good luck everyone, and thanks for keeping this thread going. Please post as normal, but as we approach 500 posts, I don't expect to see any active shenanigans! ;) :D

Edit - Cut off point for entries will be at page 490

I do believe that it's December 19 in Yorkshire now, if anyone cares!:cool::p:D;):):);):D:p:cool::thumbsup:
(Of course, we're not yet at 500 pages.)
