Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Out getting groceries, then more packing this afternoon. But had a spare minute to snap a quick picture 😁

Got the 93 back in the pocket today. Hard to beat for utility cutting.

Nice !

I’ve been enjoying the posts this morning and drinking coffee. Oddly I spent most of my life not drinking coffee. Something was wrong with me. Looking at knife pictures, some knives in hand and being caffeinated is all right. Tomorrow is GL-24 delivery day. I am excited about the micarta. Really happy Barrett and Eric chose it. As I wait for the mailman to deliver, I have this Toole to ponder. It has some nice paper micarta covers. This Micarta Monday is going to be a good one.

Another nice one !

I’ll have to check that one out.

You won't be disappointed. I think you need to make a reservation now. Holdover from covid as it's fairly small and can get very busy.

This is my first lambsfoot. NOT AN ENTRY. :)

Decided on this ole Bex.

Love them old Bex 🐑 👍🤠
With all the mischief here over the past few weeks, I never got a chance to post any photos from my day-trip to Scarborough, with Eve. I think it's the first time I've been to Scarbados, when the sun was shining, since Eve was a young 'un! :D The place never changes much, and when the sun is out, it's easy to imagine you are back in the 1960's, with sea, sand, buckets and spades, crab-lines, fishing-nets, speed-boat rides, doughnuts, candy-floss, seagulls, and amusement arcades! :D

There's a steep hill going down, from the town, to the sea-front, and there were once several of these small funicular railways in operation. We'll save that experience for when we come back up, and walk down one of the sloping streets, which really hasn't changed much since my childhood.

In those days, no boy went to the seaside without bringing home a penknife, of some kind, and there were plenty of shops that sold them. I was just looking in this shop window, when a chap came out, and struck up a conversation about how the love of knives never leaves you! :D He turned out to be a local knife maker :)

Glad you had a good visit with Eve! 👍🤠
My GL-24 made its first adventure to the park this morning to walk the dogs.

Good to see GL-24 on its first adventure 👍🤠
Congratulations Jack and Guardians on the the two milestones
I am in !

I would have never known about the pattern if not for Jack and this thread.
I love patterns rooted in tradition and history and the lambsfoot certainly is rich in both.
I appreciate its elegant lines as described in the beginning of this thread and its ergonomics in use.

Here is my first lamb, faithful companion of countless walks :)

Gallant first 🐑 Dan 👍🤠

That's Scarborough Castle up on the hill

Eve allowed me to visit several antique shops in Scarborough :) This one only opened recently, and was the largest, and most interesting. He did have some knives, but they were mostly overpriced and uninteresting. There was a Sheldon Knife, but the blade wasn't a Lambsfoot :(

Did you and Eve go for a boat ride? 🚤 The ice cream looks good! 🍦👍🤠
Good morning Guardians

Carrying Wally today 👍

Looks like Wally is enjoying the sunshine!

Elegant 🐑

Good to see Rose Beast

I showed my first lamb, now here’s my latest. The Twisted Assisted natural micarta, with a nail breaking pull. It’s odd because when I close it it’s far from a bear trap, but it costs a thumb nail sacrifice to open. I’m hoping it will ease up a little with oil and use.

Good score 🐑👍🤠 Sorry yours is a bear trap. Mine is good opening but weak closing. I think they tried to lessen the opening pull and overground the tang cam.

My other other passion is history, past few years I’ve really enjoyed learning and practicing 18th century ways of living. An easy one that has become entrenched is starting fires with flint and steel. Once you get the hang of it, matches seem like a hard way to go about it.

😎 Pic! There is something very satisfying making fire with flint and steel 👍

Very important question guardians, how do you actually get the banner in your signature. I’ve tried before but can’t get it to work?

I've enjoyed your seaside trip report, Jack, but I really have to ask about these two knives. At first glance I thought the left one was a shadow pattern, but it looks like maybe it has a black bolster? And I'm quite curious as to which Sheffield maker put a shield on a lamb? Two interesting specimens there.
Thank you Tyson :) They're unusual Lambsfoot patterns, both by A. Wright & Son. The first knife is a Shadow-pattern, with moulded Bexoid covers

Good luck with everything :) It's certainly a big advantage to have a Lambsfoot in your pocket

I think that's a great-looking Lamb :) Hope your mailman arrives on time Kurt ;)
It is pretty incredible how many really good lower-priced bourbons there are. That said, something tells me the savings aren’t that good on the other side of the pond.
Yes, indeed, they tend to be more expensive than whiskies
Same thing happened to me with one of my Guardians SFOs (one of the 2018s I think), hadn’t had it out in a while and discovered a bit of rust along the spine. Got it cleaned up well enough, still a dark spot there, but it doesn’t look too bad.
I wondered if it was acid in the wood of the box? I'm glad you got yours sorted Barrett, I'm not too worried about mine
I remember seeing an exchange online somewhere a few years back where someone said, “If you’re ever feeling useless, remember that they made a protective case for a Nokia [whatever model].” And someone else replied, “The case was to protect the floor.” 😁
🤣 🤣
That stag looks like it needs a chairlift. 😉😁
LOL! :D There was LOADS wrong with that knife, and I actually emailed Wright's to complain. I received a hand-typed letter from John Maleham, offering to make me another, and I subsequently received the one below in exchange. About a year later, I approached him about buying some knives, and it was through building up that arrangement, that we got our first Guardians SFO

Great pics from Scarborough, Jack. Looks very sunny for England! 🤣 I know there were sunny days when we visited (certainly there were the first time we came, in August), but never on any of the days we went down to the coast.

Thanks buddy, it was an unusually sunny day, not often the North Sea looks blue, rather than grey! :D Those are great pics :)
Is that an unusual shield for a Sheffield knife? I could be completely wrong, but it feels like a very “American” pocket knife shield.
It's extremely unusual Barrett, who knows where it came from, perhaps there was originally an order for a Lamb with a shield, or maybe they found some old stock of shields are something 🤷‍♂️
Those make great knife pic backdrops, don’t they? 🙂 I took a similar pic in West Bay, but the knife wasn’t a Lambsfoot 😲 so I obviously won’t show it here.
I took a pic of my AC there a few years back, but on some rope, rather than on the lobster 'pots', as they're called here

I dare say I will have other Lamb on net pics, from other times at the seaside! :D
Interesting read about the Little Ships of Dunkirk, thanks for sharing. Obviously as a stranded soldier it would be a relief to be rescued by any vessel, but if you could choose, I’d certainly go with the one that doubled as a bar… 😉😁🤣
LOL! :D Until a couple of years ago, you could take a trip out on it
That’s a shame. 🫤
Yes, Pruner is the more common pattern
Great pic! 🍦
Thanks mate, bit hurried, or I'd have squeezed a Lambsfoot in there :D
The interior of the tram feels like a great example of “they don’t make ‘em like they used to.” You’d never see public transit that looked like that these days.
Oh, it's been recently renovated Barrett, it was a bit shabby and very basic before that! :D
Good to see Rose Beast Jer

Glad you had a good visit with Eve! 👍🤠
Thanks David, I'm glad we get on so well :)
Did you and Eve go for a boat ride? 🚤 The ice cream looks good! 🍦👍🤠
No, we thought about it, but there was a line, so we gave it a miss. It's not often I eat ice-cream, but I really enjoyed that :)

I was hoping they'd tamed those pulls a little. My first had to have minor surgery, as did I after trying to open it, I could only get it open with pliers! Got it sorted in the end though, and passed it on to Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 . The pull on the one I bought for the giveaway seems fine
Good score 🐑👍🤠 Sorry yours is a bear trap. Mine is good opening but weak closing. I think they tried to lessen the opening pull and overground the tang cam.
That's annoying David  They'll just be ordering them over the phone, rather than making numerous trips to the factory, as I had to
Afternoon Guardians! Couldn't sleep till very late last night so kind of dragging around today. Still honey mooning with the GL-24 🐑View attachment 2639402
Sorry to hear that David, I hope you sleep better tonight :) Cool pic of your new knife :)

Great skill Jack, and fun too :) Is that quartz? If you win the giveaway, I'll send you a piece of Norfolk flint over
Sweet :)
Very good David :)
