Serious lollygagging on the agenda
I have a black belt in lallygagging.... AND.... I can eat 50 eggs... Have I told y'all that? ☺️
Very shortly after I made my last post, a piece of perfection arrived at the door, in the form of a long-anticipated package, or rather its contents :) Some time ago, Generous Bob contacted me, and offered to sponsor a Lambsfoot made by our friend Cosimo de Bendetto of Italy, with my choice of design and materials. I was left speechless by the generosity, but in due course, the 3 of us embarked on this project. I took a month or two to think about what I would like to see, and then put forward my proposition to Cosimo, my Dream Lambsfoot. I was very exacting in what I specified, but Cosimo did not flinch for an instant. For example, I wanted the Triple Rattail bolsters to be perfect, and Dwight Fodderwing Fodderwing very kindly assisted by taking some fantastic photos of 2 of his knives. I was very happy with Cosimo's K720 Bohler carbon steel, but asked if he could also use that for the liners and bolster, as well as the blade. The frame is a little bit larger than Eric Alber's, but smaller than the one I've seen on Cosimo's other Lambsfoot knives. It has a beautiful amount of sway, and fits my hand perfectly. The knife has the perfect amount of weight to it. The Lambsfoot blade is perfection itself, with lovely swedges, and a well-placed, nail-nick. There is a half-stop, and the pull is just right. As you can see from the photos, the covers are ram's horn, something I had always wanted to see on a Lambsfoot, but without their natural character completely polished away. What a knife! :) My deepest thanks to Bob for making this possible, and for encouraging me out of my complacency, and to Cosimo for his wonderful work. I also hope that Cosimo enjoyed the project, because he really did an amazing job, and was very easy to communicate with, despite the language barrier between us. I love the fact he has a Lambsfoot image on his business card

Some hastily-taken photos, and I hope to get better ones soon :)

Nice error print! I ran right out and looked at mine, unfortunately it’s perfect. 🤣

That is one special lamb Jack, you have impeccable taste I love it. 😍

Still no jigged bone GL-24: the hurricane has obviously slowed up the mail service. I had two packages that tracked as expected delivery on Thursday, but still did not arrive today. Hopefully tomorrow!
You're on a roll Jeff! Ducked the hurricane AND you're getting a GL24 tomorrow! Believe me... it's worth the wait.
Good morning guardians, a couple of friends and I camped out at my families hut. Although my father sold the small family farm a couple of years ago he kept 50 acres to run a few cattle and camp at whenever anyone wants to get away. We’ve got a small hut, no electricity so it’s all cooking over coals and lighting by candles. I love it that way.
Took the GL-24 with me.
Sounds heavenly Jack. 👍
We did have time for an afternoon hunt and I suggested it, one friend was keen while the other just wanted to sit by the fire and drink beer. It was an all or none proposition so we didn’t bother
I'd probably wanted to sit by the fire and drink beer... for starters... 😁

who ended up with a misprint write-up?
I got one of the non-corrected ones. Typing up so many of those must’ve felt like taking a typing test!

Some hastily-taken photos, and I hope to get better ones soon :)

If those are the “hastily-taken” pictures, it must be a true masterpiece!!! What a nice rendition and can’t wait to see more of it!

Me too Will! :D Thank you for the kind words :) Dwight Fodderwing Fodderwing 's photos were a big help in nailing the bolsters  I hope he doesn't mind my posting one here

I'm not at all surprised that CDB was inspired by Dwight's photos - I feel that I've been a recipient of some that inspiration myself! A real class act in the photo department (though his taste in architectural trends may be lacking... 🤣🤣🤣 - I kid, I kid!)

No bonsai yet. I am thinking about it. So I borrowed some books from the library to read up on it.

As a "yoot" (didn't somebody post a "My Cousin Vinny" clip here recently?) I went through a bonsai phase. At the time, I would head downtown for school and depending on my schedule that semester would often have a couple hours to kill during the day. Frequently, I'd spend the time looking for suitable bonsai stock (trees that were growing places where people clearly didn't want them - getting hacked at tends to build character in trees. Who knew?). I'd extricate these specimens, take them home, plant them, and hope for the best. If they survived the process, I'd begin pruning and training. Some are even still living at my father's place this very day - 20+ years on!

Anyhow, one of my frequent bonsai hunting grounds was Downtown Miami's Bayfront Park, where I saw Nirvana play in 1994, and which is sandwiched between Bayside Marketplace and the AAA Amphitheater (now known as the Kaseya Center). One day, while exiting the park with an old, but small, ficus in hand - one of the numerous members of the city's homeless population inquired as to what I had. I told him it was a ficus - for bonsai. He replied "can you smoke it?" I told him "no," to which he shook his head in scorn. I could tell I'd been judged an idiot. 🤣

All that to say that I found bonsai hunting a great hobby - chock full of fresh air and interesting personalities! 🤣

Although I'm not a fan of the pre match entertainment, Katy Perry.

I play guitar - but by choice, not very well. Just good enough that you'll know what I'm attempting and be able to sing along around a campfire. Katy Perry's Firework is one of my always-unexpected standards! 🤣

I will trade you our super bowl half time show Mitch.

I was really tempted to create another account so that I could add an additional 🤣 - but really, no amount would be enough. 🤷
