As a Texan I love the mesquite covers. Looks great against the polished bolster and the satin blade.I went back to double check the first post and make sure this is acceptable. I THINK this meets the guidelines on this thread, but if not I’ll gladly remove.
Anyways, a friend of mine reached out to me about “saving” a GEC 47 that used to have a different blade shape but had been reground into a straight-edge. He wanted the knife recovered, the blade thinned a bit, and the blade shape changed to something like a lambfoot. I must say, this was a daunting task, but he was very patient and very open to my creative input.
I won’t post the original condition it came to me, but you can probably imagine how it may have looked. Here’s the final product. The work completed includes new covers in mesquite, blade ground into a lambfoot shape, small choil added, and the blade has been slightly thinned and given a new satin finish. There is indeed a very slight taper to the blade. I would’ve liked to go a bit further down on the spine, but did not want to remove any more material as there is no nail nick and it needs to remain pinchable to open.

Looking good David
Have you tried flooding the joint with oil, working the blade a bit, and then blowing out with compressed air?
Action is a bit rough but this one is getting use around the house this weekend.

Good morning Guardians, I'm just making my way through a pile of toast, with a big mug of Yorkshire on the sideI hope everyone is having (or had) a great weekend. I'm definitely going to be doing some work at some point today, but until then I'm just going to take it easy, I'm feeling a bit worn out, and I have a crazy-busy week ahead
Carrying my Hartshead Barlow
Have a good one Guardians
