Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Cooling off a bit here. A little more than hoodie weather but I’ll survive 😁.

This is a new lamb to the flock and I am excited for it. It’s got it all in my book. First English lamb I own with a half stop as well. Not sure how old because Wostenholm used this stamp for a long time. It feels and looks like it has some decent age though.

That's a handsome Lamb Paul :) They used the same stamp designs for a long time, and often the same pattern for decades too. Dating Sheffield knives is hard work

In the 1930's, Wostenholm were still producing Lambs with fluted bolsters.

They were still producing some classic Lambs in the early 1970's. A very rough guess for your knife would be 1950's or 60's I think

Thanks Jack. That’s about what I was leaning towards as well. As we all know..finding these wonderful knives with fullish blades is a chore. Glad to have this one.

Good morning from Seattle, Guardians! Final weekend of my west coast work trip concludes with a fine dining business lunch today followed by visiting my sister and brother in law as well as my octogenarian parents over the weekend.

I can sense proximity to the great waynorth waynorth HQ and my sadness at missing out on Charlie’s magical Flat Cap Lamb is growing more profound by the hour😭

For solace in brotherhood here is a Lamb photo atop a Texas longhorn from my archive IMG_4011.jpeg

Happy Friday to everyone!

Yes, they weren't bought as Sunday Best knives, for the most part! :D After Britain declared war in 1939, the only knives produced were military knives, and that state existed at least until 1945. Wostenholm were still a pretty old-fashioned firm, producing a range of classic patterns until their acquisition by Joseph Rodgers in 1971. The co-joined companies were then bought by Richards of Sheffield in 1975, and 2 years after that, all the group were bought by Imperial.
Howdy Guardians! Been under the weather for a few days. Hope y'all have a good one. Big Bex Southern & Richardson Nest Knife 🤠

Sorry to hear that David, I hope you're feeling more sprightly soon. There have been some very nasty cases of Covid and flu going around here for the past couple of months. Is that a new one there buddy, it's a beauty?

Happy Friday to everyone!

Enjoy your time with your folks ! 👍

I was looking through my older photo's to try and grab a few shots of my Ebony and Jigged Bone Charlie Lambsfoot Knives- unsuccessful in finding the shot I was after, but came across this, what a pang to the heart - where is this Knife? I have searched everywhere more than twice :(😩 No other would ever replace it, and perhaps now is the time to come to the realization it is gone choose carefully which lambsfoot will take it's place in the "more often than not " carry. I have too many Knives to carry, so I need to get a bit more real in my mind.

Hope you find it Duncan!! I've had knives take a vacation, only to turn up later!! Maybe yours will also!!

Thank you, Jack! The family time is lovely indeed. I’m blessed that my mom and dad are hearty, healthy and happy after 65+ years together. Still learning and seeking adventure in their 80s!
That's wonderful Dave :)
