I feel rich when I eat them!!Me too Charlie, they were Rich Man's Food until about 30 years ago here![]()
Plant some at home, you'll have them the rest of your life!I feel rich when I eat them!!![]()
I agree with that. The best asparagus I've ever had grew wild in a patch near a pond I used to fish often.Plant some at home, you'll have them the rest of your life!
I find asparagus along with figs the only two veg/fruit that are markedly different straight from the garden as opposed to from the shop.
You’re supposed to eat it? I thought it was plate decorationI feel rich when I eat them!!![]()
My M. May does the same thing. It's a cam tang with a weird area where it feels like it loses all spring tension. Can't see it hurting much but it sure doesn't feel very super. Here are a couple shots of the tang. Not sure if they are clear enough.
These 3 photos give an idea of the range of play the knife has when at the “half stop”:
All previous traditionals I have had with a half stop have defined tension that puts the blade at 90 degrees like the second picture. This one however doesn’t have that tension and feels like there are additional points like pictures one and three with that defined point of tension to stop the blade. It will stop at the “half stop” anywhere between pictures one and three, with a feel of detents at the positions pictured in photos one, two and three. Definitely a hard one to describe via text! Lol
Nice
Congratulations buddyFashionably late? Perfect timing, in my opinion…

I really liked the jigging on the first run, Charlie, but this flat-cap jigging is just sublime!
Copy.
Yes it definitely has a half stop. It’s just not well defined at 90 degrees to the handle like I am used to. There is a bit of play up and down where the knife will settle at the “half stop” depending on how I open and close it (if that makes sense).
That looks like a cam tang. Knives with half-stops have a square tang, rather than a rounded oneHere are a couple shots of the tang. Not sure if they are clear enough.

It sure looks like a cam tang. If it was designed for half stops the tang would be flat and not round.
Sometimes if the tang and spring are fitted poorly, or worn there will be a spot that loses contact with the spring and mimics a half stop. I think that's what the case is here.
I have a couple A. Wright knives that don't have half stops, but were very stiff and tended to kind of hang up in a few spots throughout the opening motion like that until I flushed them really well.
Good observations gents, I think JJ has hit upon the issue, those knives leave the factory with all sorts of stuff in there. The best thing to do O Onikudaki is to flood the joint with some oil, work the blade backwards and forwards a few times, and then blow the joint out with compressed air (from an air-line or from a can). Oil again, and work the blade, then blow the oil out from a slightly different angle. Hold the knife in a tissue/Kleenex, so that you can see the gunk come out, and protect your wallpaper! Repeat a few times. If that doesn't work, you may have a piece of metal fash or something stuck in thereI can add little on top of what has already been said but that’s definitely a cam tang. Picture the tang against the spring and how an uneven or poorly done one will hang up in spots. That’s what you’ve experienced in my view.
Good observation Jack, and a great picLike the life of a real lamb, a knife’s existence is only fleeting so best enjoyed in hand rather than in a tube or box I say

Great to see you here Harry, you certainly got an interesting oneThis came in 2 days ago , so I guess it is time to post it here since I have decided to keep it . Thankswaynorth Charlie for having this last run made . I know that you remember when Bill did not want to make a Lambfoot . Thanks for not giving up on the Lambfoot . I consider myself lucky for getting one with some small amount of Worm Grooving in the jigging on the Pile Side .

Maybe it's an issue peculiar to Mr MayMy M. May does the same thing. It's a cam tang with a weird area where it feels like it loses all spring tension. Can't see it hurting much but it sure doesn't feel very super.![]()

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK, and getting through the week. So far, I don't have much on today, apart from my annual service this afternoon, with the nurse at my medical practice, check on my BP and meds, etc. I dare say the spectre of work may appear at some point, but until then, I'm taking it easyHave a good day Guardians
