Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks, Dylan. Glenn did a fantastic job! I wish Wright’s could do a jigged bone that looked that good themselves.

...

Thanks, Jack! No, I should have specified, I’d put the Big ‘Un at a lower number, as it is noticeably lighter.

Like you, I appreciate the stronger pull, and I don’t find any of my Wright’s Lambsfoot knives difficult to open, but I would agree with the quote from kamagong above — they are noticeably stronger than other knives. After ranking mine by pinchability and making all those notes (which involved a considerable amount of repetitive knife-opening ;)), I started going through my GEC drawers and opening knives, to see if I could find one of their patterns that was comparable. Even the patterns known for having stronger pulls seemed pretty light after in comparison to the Wright’s knives.

As for your own pinching abilities, perhaps all that Henderson’s Relish has somehow altered your DNA and given you some extra grippiness in your knife-pinching fingers? ;) :D

Me too, I think jigging bone was very much a specialist job in Sheffield once, and doubt any of the cutlers at Wright's has ever done it. Probably not a good career to go into anymore :(

When I first started posting here, me and @scruffuk would always chuckle about the 1-10 scale! :D

LOL! Perhaps so! :D I hope I can always get it! I do not look forward to the day I can no longer pinch open a Lambsfoot o_O

I mentioned my skinny-waisted grandfather the other day. Well he was a real macho guy, and even in his 50's, when I was in my early teens, he would try and crush my hand while shaking it. But I've always had big hands, and much to his frustration, I could beat him! :D Now, he was born left-handed, but in a time when he was forced to use his right-hand (the teachers would tie his left-hand behind his back). So, after being beaten by his grandson, he'd then challenge me to have a go with the left-hand! o_O But I could beat him with that too! What a character, he spent far too much time reading cowboy books! :D Tennis elbow has certainly put paid to my grandfather-beating days (and he passed nearly 40 years ago anyway) though! :rollyes: My other grandfather was a sweetheart :D

Mayo is very easy to make at home, just be sure mustard, oil and egg have the same temperature.
The JR is in my pocket since monday.

Now I realise why I don't like mayo! :D

Nice-looking JR JP :)

Good Morning Guardians

That is a very handsome Barlow.

Great start to the day John

Because it is a natural for slicing open my “Nooks and Crannies” and my hard boiled eggs! :D

You are lucky to have those memories. I never really knew my grandfathers. One died before I was born and the other died when I was pretty young. About the only Grandpa memories I have is of him tripping me with his cane, and threatening to cut off one of my fingers with his pocket knife (my earliest knife memories). I always knew he was joking, and maybe that's where I got my odd sense of humor o_O

That's a shame John, but it sounds like our grandfathers might have got on! :D I remember mine showing me a flick-knife, and a Luger he had brought back from the war. He did give me my first Lambsfoot  He died when I was about 19, but he was ill for a long time before that. My grandmother died when I was about 16. My other grandparents lived another couple of decades though. They were all funny folk in their own way ;)

I have sworn off carbs :( and I can't tell you how much I miss my "Nooks and Crannies"!!!!! :D Lovely barlow.

Thank you GT. Yep, tomorrow is D-Day. :)

Another finely crafted photo Kevin and the horn is dreamy.

Me too, booze and sugar as well! Good luck tomorrow Dwight, hope it goes well my friend :)

@donn - David such a beautiful photo of York Minster Cathedral. I am fascinated by this structure, its age and history, the fatal fire hazard of wood construction, the 1829 fire and subsequent discovery of Norman ruins beneath by John Brown. Your and Jack's ancient edifice photo documentation is a highlight of this thread for me. :)

Such beautiful wood Dwight :) Here's a pic of Ripon Cathedral for you ;)

Thanks Jack. Seventh Century!!!!!

Meant to add this to my last post, but I forgot. Since we're posting cathedrals, here's Wells Cathedral.

And here's the much smaller St Cuthbert's Church, also in Wells, which you might recognize if you're familiar with the film Hot Fuzz. :D

And a little standard Ebony Lambsfoot content for good measure. ;)
