Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Took Beni to work today and he was a total joy to use. Great W&T and slicing nirvana.

Beni is a beauty !

Great image Steve

Thanks buddy !

Good morning Guardians, is it Friday already?! I hope everyone has had a good week. Mine panned out very differently to how I imagined. After my trip over to York yesterday, I was annoyed to realise they may have sold me the wrong size cap 🤨 I'm off to the horspital this morning to get my head wound cleaned and dressed. Hope everyone has a great day

Guardians, we all make mistakes, but there's been way too many of them lately. If you want to stay in good standing here, please go and read post #1. Lambsfoot knives only please

Great character on your Rosie HHB ! 😍

Spring has sprung !

I get it Jack and I'm guilty of this slipping my mind just about every time I'm away from the thread for minute and I come back with a Navy Knife to mod. I thought you had encouraged me to talk about and share the projects (but maybe you meant old knives id done), and some others had asked for an illustration of the process in the past, but I could have misunderstood all of that. I appreciate @Jakeywax31 direct command last night as this is a special pattern that deserves its own exclusive corner or the porch.

As a "thanks for keeping me honest", here's the image with handy dandy AI removing the Navy Knife pre grind, followed by an older example of finished conversion on a bone variant:

Those are some tidy grinds ! 👍

Thanks! Interesting story about the Beni... I originally commissioned Lamb's foot from him, even sent him vector art so he could trace the pattern. He ended up sending me lamp what was unanimously considered a sheep's foot knife and I had to do quite a bit of careful grinding. Bring that One up to Lamb's foot standard. Such good steal though, those razor steels, the 14c28n and the aebl and the nitro v - they're even easier to work than 420, HC or definitely 440c. I wish we saw the steels more widespread, they're just as tough and easy to sharpen is 1095, you take a better edge and it lasts a lot longer, which me matters on such utilitarian blade like a lamb's foot.

Hope you are healing well Jack and have your cap back on soon.
A fine HHB you have there.👍🏻
Thanks Bob, the surgeon was enthusiastic about how it is healing. I keep having to remind him that there shouldn't be a hole in the front of my head in the first place! 🤨
Stuffed turkey Thanksgiving decor. I never put away my Easter glass tulips last time either, and now they're in season again.

Snowdrops!
Yesterday.

You can celebrate all the holidays at once Jer! :D
Nice pic :)
That HHB has seen some good use, love seeing that character on a knife.
Thanks Jack, not seen as much use as my stag model, but definitely not been babied :D

Definitely a talking point my friend :) Do we know how many of these turned up?

I only know of one more available Jack. A blue one that has JAPAN on pile side of blade.
An excellent detail my friend :) After the whole Wostenholm/Rodgers/Richards/Imperial thing went down the pan in Sheffield, the Richards factory shut down, and the workers were made redundant. Everything was then acquired by a former accountant at Richards, Vic Rickless, who set up a firm called Meteor Industries. Openly accused of asset stripping, it was Rickless, who will live in infamy forever, as the individual who licensed Jim Parker to use IXL marks on Japanese-made knives. There was certainly a lot of old stock lying about too (in fact a lot of the old Rodgers stock ended up in the River Sheaf)

Here's another Japanese-made Lambsfoot (though this isn't a Sheffield blade)...

1970's Japanese Lambsfoot 1.JPG

And the famous Parker Space Shuttle Knife (SpaceLamb), also made in Japan...

There's also the Parker Schrade Landshark of course (I only have one of the recent Chinese ones, which I don't think is quite a Lamb).

Rodgers Lamb from that exact period...

Mango is incredible wood, Bob, and those look like remarkable specimens.

If you have a UV or "black" light, run it over those scales - Mango often has neat areas that fluoresce with exposure. Adds another cool dimension to the wood if, you know, you happen to find yourself at a rave party or something. 😂

Stunning photos Will

Thanks, Jack!

Jack, as always, I enjoy learning from your wealth of knowledge.
It's sad how money drove the owners, to the detriment of their products.☹️

Thanks Will. Photos really do not show the true depth of the grain.
Next time I put on my lime green leisure suit and go to the dico, I will check out the knife under the lights.😁

Nice one Dave !

You won't lose that one in the grass 😲

70's and thunderstorms for you today, but a chance for some flakes next week 🤪🤪🤪

Nice pics buddy!

That's Minnesota weather in a nutshell 😉

Another rainy day here in Santa Cruz. I’ve enjoyed it. I did have this lamb out for a fluorescent light bath and it was lollygaggdelic. It’s a happy Friday.
