Oh memories!!!! Good and bad- I hate that image of those darned stairs Jack! But the rest are great memories!, Hey a wet da but still a day out and I don't mind those ones!Having been freed up from work today, I thought I better head off on my mission to York. I had decided to go on the train, but even while I was on my way to the station my day started to go sour. Checking my email, I found that I had one from the company (Booking.com) I had made reservations for one of the hotels on my birthday trip away, a swanky place in the English Lake District. According to the email, the booking had been cancelled due to an error with my credit card. I knew there was no problem with my card, so I rang the hotel. Fortunately, the hotel were very understanding, and didn't want to turn away £500+ out of season. They told me that my original booking had gone through a travel agent in Holland, for some reason. So sod Booking.com, and I'll pay the hotel in cash if they want!
I let Matt and Wolfie know, but Wolfie sent a reply to us both, which may be the start of him weaseling out of our trip
I managed to get a fast train to York, but by the time I arrived it was raining steadily. This attractive old bridge in York station is where I took a tumble the other month, something I've still not recovered from. Trying to take a pic, I discovered that not only was my camera battery flat, but also the spare! All photos are therefore taken on my phone

I headed into the city centre, and crossed the River Ouse.

Since it was chucking it down, and it was nearby, I decided to head straight to the gentleman's outfitters, and pick up Charlie's cap, where I got an old-fashioned fleecing

The weather was miserable, and the antique centre I went to was closed. I headed to the market, but there was nothing of interest there. I next went to Barnitt's hardware store, which once sold Lambsfoot knives.
There are a lot of good restaurants in York, but many of them were still closed, and I wasn't really hungry. I walked around for a bit, but nowhere caught my eye. Eventually, I decided I'd get a chip butty at the place I last went to with Duncan.

I called in another antique shop, but there wasn't anything of interest there, so I decided to make my way back to the station, calling for a coffee on the way.
I walked past the pub that Dutch idiot has ruined

Unfortunately, I just missed a train to Leeds, and while that one took only 20 minutes, the next few took an hour and ten! I decided to get one anyway, rather than just hang around in the station for an hour. At least the slow route is attractive, but the weather was so bad, I barely saw a thing

I apologise greatly fort the lack of time spent here, its been one heck of a whirlwind - Builders have ripped the heart out of our House and the whole Bathroom was torn down and started again, Sue and I have been living in a Hotel while the price of the build keeps going up! Many discussions I can tell you.
also with that Sue and I have loaded two caged Trailer loads to the Hilt- its burning hot here and I have been having intense treatment on my hip - putting it to the test.
Darned hip- it makes me sound old- but I have had just on 4 decades of terrible pain on and at the odd times off.
It was from a fall and a massive tear in my Lumbar followed by many months of injections into the tear, I'd rather have my finger nails pulled than go through that again

the amount of work gone into my hip in the last 6 months, should have near paid for the new Bathroom

So...now that this grumpy old fart has vented, Jack how is YOUR body, hows the Head wound my friend? and is that leg any better since the Physiotherapy? Hoping your reply is a positive one!
now..... time to catch up on these pages......here we go!!!
