Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Despite it being a beautiful spring day here, the market was pretty quiet, in terms of the number of occupied stalls. The market is in terminal decline :( I took Tool Man a bunch of knives that have been gathering dust on my kitchen table, only to have him tell me that he intends to clean them up with a rotating brass brush 😖 Boring Ray has been investing in repro tat purchased online, and now embarrassingly overpriced  Scooby called in, and Harry Hotballs, but that was it in the long couple of hours I was there. At least the sun was shining

I hope toolman is recovering well.

With a shimmer of the screen, and some mildly spooky music, let me take you back to last Friday afternoon in the English Lake District, and our final stop before we arrive in the town of Keswick. On the hills above the town, below the mountain of Skiddaw, in a truly spectacular setting, sit the standing stones of Castlerigg, dating back to around 3200 BC.

The ancient majesty of the stone circle, nor its legally protected status, did not stop the doltish Wolfie trying to scale one of them o_O

Perhaps the biting wind, whistling through his lug-holes had numbed what little grey matter exists between them

Hello, Guardians. Took a mini hiatus from BF but I’m back. Had a wonderful time at Badger. Always enjoy being in the company of fellow BF members and in particular Guardians. We did not act like college kids and down a bottle of liquor but still had a blast. I’m awful about taking pictures and unfortunately did not snap one photo 🤦🏻.

My favorite pickup from Badger is this wonderful William Rodgers Lamb/spey in buffalo horn. What an incredible one. I have pulled Excalibur from the stone!!!! Excalibur being the Lamb of course and the stone being Barrett’s paws 😂. He is an obstacle when it comes to getting a knife from his collection. I’m sure he got tired of me asking and caved in 😁. Thanks Barrett for allowing me to trade for this epic knife. Have no idea of the age but I’m over the moon about it.

Didn’t get to carry my HHB last weekend so in the pocket it goes today.

You really scored with that William Rodgers!

Thanks for sharing your trip Jack!

Leaving Castlerigg behind, we headed for our hotel in Keswick.

It was supposedly overlooking the lake of Derwentwater, and I had paid extra for rooms with mountain views. Here's the view from my room

After sprucing up, Matt and I headed out to eat. Wolfie had gone missing, but joined us an hour later. One of the most highly recommended bars in the town turned out to be just around the corner, and we ordered beer and pizzas, before moving onto an excellent bottle of red wine. When Wolfie eventually turned up he petitioned to go elsewhere, so we went for a walk around, and went in a couple of mediocre pubs, before deciding to return to the first place. Back there, a band struck up, and we had a great time, even meeting some Sheffielders

I had left my camera back at the hotel, but took a few photos on my phone. Unfortunately my phone has a very annoying habit of lightening up my photos, which in this case, very much spoils their atmosphere :(
