Another great pic Jack :)
Back at home today after traveling to Wyoming for the past week and getting to meet up with @Matt_WY while there. One of my favorites back in my pocket today.

Fantastic Jeremy :) An outstanding slip/Lamb combo there my friend :)
Looking good Mitch :)
Really cool pic Dwight, I was telling a youngster about the old tram system just yesterday :)
Is that paper still going. ??? Or another organization destined to history.
Interesting you should ask Leon :) Long gone, sadly, like most of our old local newspapers. There was a Sheffield Mercury, but more significant historically, is perhaps The Sheffield Iris. Many, many pages back there was some discussion about James Montgomery, who established a small-town American paper, which I think is still run by his forebears. While in Bradford, I was working close to the old Telegraph & Argus building, those old newspaper offices and printing rooms were fascinating places to visit. It is empty now, and as one of their few remaining journalists was telling me, there are only 6 of them to cover the entire county, and they all work from home. I'm not even sure they're all staff
That’s a real looker, Charlie. Tons of character! 😎 When I got this Springbok (direct from Eric), the box it came in was mistakenly labeled “Tasmanian Blackwood.” I probably wouldn’t have been too upset if it had actually contained the Tasmanian Blackwood, but I was still relieved to open it and find the Springbok inside. 😁

Nice to see that one again Barrett, it's a real Bobby Dazzler
Moshi-moshi Guardians,

My A/C was broken for days while I was led on by a criminally unscrupulous repair company. If you live somewhere with temperatures that sane and civilized people would balk at, make sure to have a reliable, responsive, and highly skilled person, or persons, at the ready. You just never know.

It got up to 94°F today with very high humidity. Serious business. Too hot for anything more than lackadaisical grumbling while sitting three inches away from an industrial box fan. As a bonus, the intense wind helped to keep all but the burliest and most committed mosquitoes at bay.

Eventually, I got in contact with a friend of my friend's family, Miguelito ("Little Miguel" - you could probably figure that out on your own. He has "Mike" embroidered on his work shirt. Nice touch.), who remediated the hamfisted bungling of the previous jerks, found the real problem (it had something to do with that copper-looking thing in the picture...), and had some interesting theories that involve the Italian mob supporting Fidel Castro's rise to power because they wanted to eliminate Havana as competition for their casinos in Las Vegas. I guess it makes some kind of sense - I'd rather go to a tropical paradise than a skeevy hole in the middle of the desert. Maybe just me.

Tilly "supervised" the repair and listened politely to the conspiracy theories about the criminal underworld's role in geopolitics but stopped short of getting her hooves dirty.

An interesting post as always my friend! :)
Sunny with a high near 55 here today, they say.

Set the controls for the heart of the sun Jer ;)
Good morning Guardians. Bright sunny day to start off today. Yesterday was not a good one for me - had a molar extracted and without going into the gruesome details let me just say it was a grueling procedure for me. On the mend now. Going to have my nice little Senator in my pocket today. Some soft food for my meals today.

Sorry to hear that Bill :( Sadly, they don't grow back at our age either :(

Darn it, with my recent internet woes, I've realised that 2 posts I made this morning have disappeared, or rather they were never actually made! 😖 I had a bit of work to do early on, but I've had a reasonable day, and I even got to meet Wolfie for coffee and mango cheesecake 😋 I still have a few notes to type up from Bradford, but they can wait for now, I'm falling off the waggon tonight! 😂;)👍

It's another Bank Holiday Weekend here 🤷‍♂️ No wonder the banks are closing! 🤣

I hope everyone is having a great day, and that you're looking forward to a great weekend

(Looking into my near future! :D ;) )

I've found it a hard couple of weeks, going over to Bradford virtually every day, and then going to work again when I get back home. Early mornings, late nights, and little sleep. I consider myself very lucky not to have to work like that all the time, and to get well paid when I do. Still, I'm exhausted, and in need of a treat, in my mind at least ;) So, I've opened a delightful, well-aged, Cru Bourgeois, from 2010, which Matt and his missus bought me as a Christmas present, and had a bowl of fresh bacon and cheese ravioli, with tomato pesto. Sorry you didn't get to see it Guardians, but that pasta was cooked before I'd poured the wine! 😋 And besides, after 2 weeks of working away, Grumble Towers is an absolute disgrace, and not fit to share! ;) This wine is so delicious, I've probably open it a bit early, but I'm going to enjoy every drop :D Have a good evening Guardians

To be honest mate i'm surprised there is still a newspaper industry, anywhere. They just don't sell enough now to be viable, nearly all their customers have grey hair and to put it bluntly are old. Combine that with the fact that some of the rubbish they now print and try to tell you that is journalism is an insult to our intelligence. Young people get all their news off a mobile devise and that has transcended to an older demographic as well now. Rant for Saturday Morning, have a good weekend mate. 🥰🥰.

Nearly Time For The Flat Cap. 🤣🤣🤣.

You are right mate, we grew up in very different times. I delivered newspapers, from the age of 11, seven days a week, and it was a hard job because every family got a morning an evening paper 6 days a week, a paper on Sunday, and in Sheffield, there was an.addiitional sports paper on.Saturday evenings. Most of my life, until 2020, I bought a daily paper myself, and I can remember, years ago, how me and my missus would look forward to the weekend newspapers, with all the supplements and magazines. On the rare occasions I buy a paper now, I.am inevitably left disappointed, and I could buy2 or 3 pints for the cost of a Saturday or Sundsy newspaper. Like yourself, mate I wonder that they even continue to exist 🙄👍
Saturday Morning Coffee. Have a good Weekend Everyone.

I think it was Molly Ivins who used to bewail how the newspapers fought for their existence by making themselves more and more inconsequential. Smaller, fluffier...
I don't think I've looked at our formerly local paper for decades. They'd sold out to somebody regional, and one Sunday morning they had a feature about our local music scene in Detroit, a good three hours away; and our local coffee house scene in Milwaukee, more hours away than Detroit, because it's on the other side of Lake Michigan.
[One of my recurring rants, I know.]

We have a Newcastle herald newspaper ......although it's printed in Sydney. They closed the Newcastle office and printing press years ago.
Leon is spot on, my Mum still has it delivered and my daughter often tells me she saw it on tick tock.
I still see a few delivered on my walk.
Jack no newspaper boy, even when I was a kid. The newsagent used to drive and throw rolled up newspapers out of his window.

Rooting around in boxes, I came across this one!! It needed to get out and be CF'ed and CE'ed!! So I took new pics!! This knife has Tasmanian Blackwood on it!! It's related to Gidgee and they are both versions of Acacia!!!View attachment 2881873View attachment 2881874
Real attractive Handle material that Tasmanian Blackwood Charlie!

Laughed at Jeff telling you off for having that hiding in a box 😂
