Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Now that it’s not raining there’s a lot more green around here. Hope everyone had a good Sunday.

Congrats on all the fine cutlery and edible goodies you got from Rob, Dave!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:
And plaudits to Rob for his thoughtfulness and generosity! :):thumbsup::cool:
Rob is a mighty fine fellow, Guardian, and friend.:thumbsup::thumbsup::D
You're a pool hustler, too, Dave??:thumbsup::p I shoulda known!
My best man at my wedding in 69 and I played pool at our local pool hall before the wedding, to fill in time and calm the nerves.:p

Thanks Gary! :) Man I have really missed a lot of posts today. That’ll teach me to miss a day again. I did get a new specimen in the mail this weekend that I hope to get some photos of in the morning. It’s an Eyewitness Bigun. It is carbon with steel liners and pins. I’m not sure of the handle material, but it’s man made. It is textured and I almost think it’s Gum Fuddy. I’m not sure but I know someone here will be able to help. All I’ll say is it’s ugly but it’s a well made solid knife! :D

Sounds like Bexoid Ron, looking forward to seeing it my friend :)

Nice pic of your AC Joe

Bexoid!? That’s one I’ve never heard of my friend! Thanks Jack! :) I’m headed to do some googlefoo now, but I will definitely try to get some photos this morning! :D

They've been using it in Sheffield since before WW2 Ron, maybe earlier. It could be that the actual composition of the material has changed, and the Sheffield cutlers just call it that, I really don't know. I have a couple of bookmarks for vintage plastic links, but at least one of them is no longer, but I'll edit anything I find into this post. For now, here's my TEW Lambsfoot with Bexoid scales

It seems Bexoid was originally manufactured by the British Xylonite Co. in 1937, it was a Cellulose Acetate. I suspect that the Sheffield cutlers still use the term for any similar plastic. Bexoid was used most famously on British Army Clasp Knives, as a cheaper replacement for Buffalo Horn

Thanks Jack! That is most definitely what my scales are made from! I have saw Bexoid used before but I either had forgotten or didn’t realize what the proper name was. Not to stray from the Lambsfoot but I have also saw a lot of military clasp knives with this type material.
