Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Church is cancelled!
Good thing I texted that I might be late, or I'd have found out when I got there. And had the church to myself to do my tai chi. Hmm.
I might have to go over there and check on something later.

Maybe I'll watch the rest of that scary movie I changed my mind about last night half-way through it.

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing well, and having a great weekend :) I had a quiet evening, watched an Australian movie, and was in bed by 10pm, to catch up on my Zzzzzzs! 😴 I'm going for something to eat later with Matt, and then we're off top the pictures later. I used that word - pictures - the other night, and the feller I was talking to, about 20 years younger than me I said guess, said he hadn't heard that word in ages. "The young 'uns all say 'cinema'." I told him my mum always used to say 'flicks' Her mum probably talked about the 'talkies'! :D Not sure where we're getting food yet, but there are a lot of options near the cinema. Hyde Park Picture House is one of a couple of old theatres in Leeds. They've recently spent a load of money on the place, but some folks reckon they've ruined it, so we'll see.

Carrying my Pals Lamb today :) THanks guys, and have a good one

Yummy !

Sweet Albers Bob 👍

After 18 hours of airplane travel yesterday (for a 5 hour trip!) thanks to winter storms and airline incompetence, I'm back home and immediately put Roper in pocket to sooth my nerves.
I hope everyone had a festive and enjoyable Thanksgiving Day, which I did until I tried to come back to Florida.

Glad you made it back to the sunshine state in one piece Jeff.

That's my recollection.

I'm sure your recollector is more accurate than mine most of the time, Jer.:thumbsup:
Nice photo of your knife with a cardinal that COULD be a member of the Spanish Inquisition. ;)

...
Snow and leaves together is the worst! We had a few more come down, but not enough to do anything about, and anything on the deck or driveway I’ve already shoveled off with the bit of snow we got the other day.

Part of the reason Julie wanted to go to that particular game was to see Jokić play.
...
My Lambsfoot for the day was the Rhidian What-A-Lamb.

The leaves that came down in Wednesday's wind will probably stay where they are until next spring. They're currently under 10 inches of snow, and the city will probably only empty years waste carts for another week or two until stopping until April.

Jokic is an incredible player who has little "athleticism" besides height, but he certainly has basketball skills. One of the ESPN Sportscenter anchors always refers to him as "the Dad Bod God". Speaking of which, your Rhidian What-A-Lamb is quite divine!:thumbsup::cool:

Probably a good thing as the roads were bad
...
Thanks, collecting Leatherman's got me into collecting slipjoints.
Yeah, the roads got quite bad here later on Wednesday, and if my daughter had come to visit, they might have gotten stranded here yet again from the 10" of snow overnight Saturday into today.

That was an impressive collection of LM sheaths in that one photo! 😲:thumbsup:

Here you can show them your medicare card and they'll give you a card with your picture on it (like Costco!), that you can put money on like a toll road pass. And you ride for half price.
No hurry, because I still have maybe twenty bus tokens I bought a while ago in case of I know not what.
In a box somewhere I probably still have another passle of bus tokens I bought after I saw Jim Rockford lose a tail by walking a long way from his car and jumping on a bus. (A P.I. knows all the bus schedules on his patch by heart.)
I still have some funds available on the "Wave Card" for the Grand Rapids bus system I got through my university several years ago when the system went from cash fares (or multiple ride "tickets" bought with cash; I used to always carry rolls of quarters for the bus) to a totally cashless system. GR never had bus tokens during my time as a bus rider, but buying tokens at the downtown station was the cashless system when I lived in Lafayette, IN. I just did a little research online, and it looks like University still subsidizes enough of the fare for students, staff, and retirees that riding as someone affiliated with the University is still a dime per ride cheaper than riding as a senior citizen (75¢ vs 85¢ for a $1.75 regular fare). The biggest local university subsidizes the ENTIRE fare for their students and staff!

I don't recall watching that Rockford episode, but in a book I read recently (and I can't remember which one it was - maybe DeMille's Up Country?) the protagonist did essentially what you described, except he abandoned his car in the middle of the street to block his pursuers from following his bus. Since I never remember these survival tactics, if I lived a more adventurous life, I'd probably be dead by now.

I'm learning to enjoy the slow, southern life Gary.

Perhaps you can create a new fashion statement with the bubble wrap.

Sometimes, simplicity is best in a knife.

Hope you had a peaceful Thanksgiving Gary.
Slow and snowless life has real appeal to me, Bob.:cool::thumbsup:
I've never been much of a fashion trend-setter, and I doubt if bubble wrap will change that situation. 🤓
Our Thanksgiving was so peaceful that the only evidence in our house that there was a major holiday was we baked a pie.

I did think they all occurred in the same episode, but would have accepted being told otherwise :D

I really don't get around like I used to I'm afraid, only really visiting other towns now if I have a need to, but it's something I should try to change. Been a busy couple of years

I really don't know why British TV designs took so long to catch up, maybe they were still built here back in the 60's. We didn't have colour TVs until about 1970, and the first black and white ones I remember had small, thick screens, clunky channel knobs, 2 channels, and terrible reception! Also they tended to come in a cabinet, so you could hide them away like something indecent :D Also, most folks rented them, rather than buying them. The first TV we had as a kid, took a sixpence in a slot in the back, which bought you a period of viewing! 🤣
...
I'm sure there weren't many of those Gary :D Thank you for the kind words :)

Still some good mileage my friend :)
...
Since my memory seems to be quite unreliable, I tend not to trust ANYONE's memories, so I'm always asking for data or evidence.
Many things that I used to do frequently seem to be "too much trouble" now.
I enjoyed your description of early British TV, Jack.:cool::thumbsup: I wonder if a big difference between British and US TV was due to British TV being primarily a national public service and US TV being local and commercial.
Maybe in real life I didn't have too many incompetent days, at least in the classroom. But now that I'm retired, I have dreams once every week or two in which I'm leading a class and have no idea what I'm supposed to do!
Yes, the 16 miles last Tuesday was the farthest I've gone in quite a while, but I celebrated by walking less than 1 mile combined on Wednesday and Thursday. ;)

I remember all my uncles bringing beer round to watch the FA Cup Final on our new colour TV in 1971! :D None of us had ever seen a TV with a 21" screen before! 🤣 👍
I think my parents got a color TV after I had gone off to college in 1969; probably in the early '70s as you mention, Jack. I think the first color TV I bought was in the early '80s when I bought a used Sony Trinitron to use as the "monitor" for my first ever computer, a Radio Shack Color Computer.

The wet clay is probably worth another couple miles.
It certainly made me a couple of inches taller until I had taken a few steps back on a concrete sidewalk! 🤓

I see the birth of color television was in London in 1928 by John Logie Baird. My, how they have come a long way.

I always had the task of running to the hardware store for replacement tubes, early on.
I forgot about the "vacuum tubes" in the old TVs! My Dad did so many things himself on the dairy farm: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, welding, etc.. I'm sure he would have been able to replace tubes easily, but we always took our TV for repairs to a guy from our church who ran a little electronic shop.

Good morning Guardians !

Winter is in full effect here, currently 14°F with another winter weather advisory in effect. Calling for more snow tonight into tomorrow. ❄️

Nice photo, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
I hope your cold weather doesn't last too long. We seem to be staying in the 24-34˚F range the past few days.

Chance snow, then heavy snow, which could be heavy a times, mostly after noon. Storm warning till 10am tomorrow. Four inches today and seven more tonight. Might be an exciting drive home, but things shouldn't be too bad when I leave at two.

View attachment 3037829
Were the forecasts quite accurate, Jer? I think we ended up with 10" of snow Saturday to noon Sunday. Fortunately, a couple of neighbors better equipped than I am removed most of the snow from our driveway and sidewalks with their machines.:thumbsup::cool: I still shoveled for about 1.5 hours this morning, though.

For future reference, your link requires one to sign into Instagram to view the pics. As I don't have an account, I couldn't see your pics. I saw the one Jack posted. Looks nice.
Ditto!
(I don't do Instagram or Instant Pot, but I do instant coffee.)

Brrrrrr! Where did my 70's go?

I will not be offended if no one guesses, but don't forget the contest ( may be a bad time to do this).View attachment 3037955
My 70s are right here with me, every day for the next 6 years (the Lord willing and the creek don't rise)! o_O

Eighteen hour 5 hour trip 👎👎👎

I couldn't agree more.

Lot's of character there Steve.
I'm glad our pretend snow fence is working down here.

Thanks !

Thank you Gary, that's a fair point. Even today, if you own a TV, you have to buy a TV License, which isn't inexpensive  I remember buying a cheap colour portable in the early 80's, it was £250, which I think will get you a reasonable TV today :D The Sony Trinitron was the TV to have here in the LATE 80's :D I was gifted one by the Billionaire's daughter I minded in 1988/89. I left it in the room I was renting from a friend in London, only to have him go crazy, and throw it out of the window, together with everything else in the house, including the radiators! 😖

Lambshark

Looking good buddy :)
