Got blood drawn today. Get ready for next week's doc appointment. I was part way home when the lab at the hospital called me and told me they didn't draw even blood could I come back. So my afternoon out took longer than originally planned.

I fell off a chair at school 3 stitches in the noggin.

I think we all have a few scars from school! I've even got a knife scar, and another from broken glass!

Although I did see the cane once or twice in primary school.

If I had £1.....

I had the Nuns in primary school. They were experts in dispensing disciplinary pain.

They do have that reputation, oddly

They were excellent at manipulating a yard stick.!!

When I started infant school, a few months before my 5th birthday, the children had to sit cross-legged on the floor of the school hall for Assembly (prayers and hymns). The teachers would stand round the sides with sticks, and clout you on the head if you were not singing to their satisfaction. Frustrated by their inability to reach the children in the centre of the hall, they brought in longer and longer sticks, some of which must have been fishing poles. They laughed and joked about their competition. They were just ordinary women in a state-run school, most of whom were mothers themselves, and while this was very far from the most sadistic thing I witnessed at school, I still today, sometimes wonder what possessed them to be so casually cruel to small children

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone has survived the week unscathed Nobber Al was telling me yesterday, how there had been a proposal to amalgamate the two main Sheffield football clubs, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United. Since there is rivalry between their fans that is beyond fierce, I'm looking forward to reading their reaction to this sage idea! I was supposed to be meeting Wolfie for coffee this morning, but he let me know, just now, that he had "forgotten" SWMBO was using the car today I am still looking forward to getting coffee though. Nothing too much on today otherwise, but I'm sure something will come along I have L'Ariete in my pocket Have a great day Guardians
