Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'll probably look in on the superbowl occasionally. I kind of like both teams, so I can be philosophical. There will be more commercials than ever, and lately I haven't found them as funny as they used to be. And it will be a long game starting late.

Enjoy your afternoon Jer
Advice needed between two slightly different styles of blades. I think I have this right , the Lambsfoot has a definite downward diagonal angle at the end of the blade as opposed to what some people call a " Tackler " which has a gradual downward curve ? or would both be classed as Lambsfoot in some circles ? Thanks
A Tackler or is it Tacker would be closer to a Wharncliffe shape I believe. Definitely not a Lambsfoot.
Anyway , it seems that the Arthur Wright Lambsfoot are a very popular make and many people seem to have them . Obviously before I buy any knife I tend to do as much research into them as possible , can anyone comment on the general fit and finish of A Wrights before I take the plunge ? They do seem to be out of stock in most stockists at present . Thanks
If you go to post #1, you'll find a link to a Thread Index. It's far from complete, but you can use it to find this sort of discussion and information. Tackler knives come in various forms, and can have Wharncliffe or Sheepsfoot blades, but not Lambsfoot blades, and so are not discussed here. If you use the forum search function, you'll find various other threads in which they are discussed. Many of the A. Wright knives being shown here are not standard Wright's knives, but what are known here as 'SFO's (Special Factory Orders), or limited production runs. In my experience, the quality of A. Wright knives is variable at best. Membership of Bladeforums is expensive, and will allow you to discuss purchasing privately, as well as make it easier to post photos. Most importantly read post #1, and perhaps some of the early pages of this thread
Golf, lolligagging, super bowl today.

Good Sunday morning, Guardians! Happy to have the sunshine back and unseasonably warm temps here. I took Gator 🐑 out fishing with a friend yesterday. First spot was a pond south east of Dallas where the Texas Dept of Fish and Wildlife have stocked a big batch of trout for the winter season.

Nothing to compare with Chui Chui Paul’s lovely rainbow trout of last week but a Texas trout is a rare thing. This pond is all catch and release so maybe I’ll get to catch him again later before the water warms up and they all become food for the other fish and birds.

IMG_8638.jpeg
Next we drove about 30 minutes to his family’s farm near Kaufman, TX to fish in the livestock pond.IMG_8645.jpeg
The locals were happy to see us but disappointed we didn’t bring food for them.

For a truly fine afternoon of fishing, good whisky and a cigar. The first two fish photos are white crappie, a very popular panfish for eating in Texas and throughout the southern USA. Delicious, especially when fried. They are known as “sac-a-lait” in Louisiana and white perch in Mississippi although they are not perch. 🤣🎣

There were plenty of young largemouth bass too. Very fun on a fly rod.

This fine fiberglass rod was made by a craftsman from the UK named Sandy Nelson.

That looks like a tasty snack Dan 😋

Thank you, Jack! That’s an all-British setup when you factor in the Hardy reel 🇬🇧 (although the rod blank is an Epic made in NZ; still part of the Commonwealth).
I noticed Dave, thanks for the further info :) When I was fishing, (and I really hope I can get back to it some day), some of my pike lures were made in Jer's backyard :)

There's a realtor's open house next door tomorrow. Maybe I can make a few bucks for not sunbathing in my front yard.

If you sunbath in budgie smugglers, to complete the look, braces and cowboy boots are a must. And a flatcap…knife and hat preferable.

I don't care for either team, but we will watch anyway because my wife, who has zero interest in football, insists on watching just for the commercials. She has me make a fancy multi layer tex mex dip for chips, too. Hopefully the commercials are better than last year's, I thought they were lackluster.

My plan has fallen through.
There's a "sale pending" sign up and no sign of an open house. I think the "for sale" sign went up two days ago.
