Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks Jack, it was delicious.

Glad the weather cooperated for market day.
Good to hear Bob :) Thank you my friend, I got the best part of the day, it is raining now
Is that a pocket watch on Toolman's chain?

It is probably his Gipton Special Jer ;) Tool Man has brief obsessions with certain things, Romesse stoves, a certain type of Stanley knives, gas spanners, to think of just a few, and Molnija pocket watches. He bought a number of these watches from ebay, and was trying to persuade me I NEEDED to buy one (having lost interest, he's now selling them off), and showed me what he thought to be a classy feature - embossed wolves on the back of the case! 🫣

I remarked, "They're not wolves! They're Alsatians (German Shepherds)!" Now, every town has a place that people make jokes about, and in Leeds, it's Gipton, known as Corned Beef Island. Gipton is what is known here as a Council estate (a housing project), and when me and Tool Man were kids, every Council estate was overrun with stray 'Alsatians', (as they were known here then, and since WW1), so to add insult to injury, I immediately dubbed Tool Man's favourite watch, 'The Gipton Special'. He clearly hates this, but feigns humour through gritted teeth, as I break into song every time he starts showing off his watch, or anytime it's even mentioned! 😂

After coffee and a pastry, I headed to the market, and spent an hour or two chattimg to Tool Man, Nobber Al, Ex-Para Steve, Boring Ray, Extremely Violent Carpark Dave, Big J, Golden Gordon, and Nobber Al. Tool Man had almost finished a pork pie when I got there. Here he is surveying his domain 😁

Two things:
1. I think we need an explanation on how Extremely Violent Car Park Dave got that name.
2. Tool Man has a SWEET vest on, is that a fleece/fur lined leather vest? Hell yeah.

1. Well, I forget all the details now, but Dave is quite a violent bloke! Surprisingly, he was actually a nurse for several years, but after some form of incident, probably violent, he was facing the sack, something which was confirmed when he head-butted his manager. That explains how he came to be working as a car-park attendent, and he's been involved in at least a couple of altercations since he took up that calling. He was recently suspended, which I think was for assaulting his supervisor. I don't know what happened exactly, but he broke the news today that his suspension has been lifted. Until the next time! 💣

2. I was admiring it myself, and was trying to think who he reminded me of. It didn't come to me until later, when.I thought of a character in a British 1970's sitcom called Citizen Smith, which followed the misadventures of a young South London drop-out/revolutionary, Wolfie Smith. A member of his drinking gang/political movement, the Tooting Popular Front, and the only tough-nut, was Anthony 'Speed' King, whom Tool Man will be thrilled to know I thought of! 😁

I hope everyone is having a good day. It's considerably cooler here than it was yesterday, but so far it hasn't rained. Hisham was roasting coffee in the cafe.

Did toolman lose a few pounds ?

Leaving the market, I went to the bank, picked up some shopping, and went for some soup.

Nice !

Last night at the Feed Sack. The name is misleading, it tends toward upscale food and service.
Perfectly prepared Cod. My wife had cherry glazed Salmon. View attachment 3155107

Nice looking Fish & Chips, the lamb isn't bad either 👍

We only really see Dave when he's suspended or between jobs! :D His wife makes very nice cake - though even if she didn't, I think I'd be tempted to praise her baking skills! 😂
Good morning Guardians !

It's a nice cool spring day here in Minnesota 🙂👍

Looks lovely Steve, and that is a wonderful pic of your stunning IXL

About an hour ago, I was putting a few knives away, and came across a few oddments from my SFO days. Stacked in a cigar box, I took the bottom knife to be my 2019 Guardians SFO (above), but quickly realised it was something else. Since they only did plain bolsters, I did have some difficulty getting Wright's to understand precisely what bolsters I wanted, and this, I think this was produced after I asked Ashley Harrison if he could do a threaded bolster (for the 2018 Guardians SFO). It was done while I was downstairs from the workshop talking to John Maleham. The knife is the smaller size Wright's do, the same as my AC, with a polished blade, and I think the covers may be African Rosewood, rather than Indonesian. Anyway thought you might like to see it
