Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

At 3.20minutes he explains the horn has memory and if not done properly it will curl.

Yesterday was the busiest I've ever seen Lowe's. So of course we short handed on Saturday at the end of Mulch Week in the spring. Good thing I did my exercises before I went to work, or I wouldn't have done them at all.

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is well, and having a great weekend :) Apologies for my absence yesterday, but I had a "client emergency" to deal with, but that was done and dusted by lunchtime. Since I was in the city centre anyway, I arranged to meet Matt, whose missus and kids were away visiting her folks in Lancaster, on the dodgy side of the Pennines (the chain of hills which divide northern England). We had coffee and cake in the cafe in Leeds Art Gallery, and then set off on what was a very enjoyable pub crawl, starting at the impressively-restored Victoria & Family Commercial Hotel. After a couple of pints in there, we headed to a modern pub called the Head of Steam, which is part of a chain. It was packed inside, but we got seats, and a couple of pints. I probably wouldn't bother with that place again though. After that we walked to a popular traditional pub near Leeds market, The Duck & Drake, where we had a couple of pints, and chatted to a bloke who'd travelled all the way from Wales to visit his favourite pub :D

We were hungry by this point, so next went to a bar called Tapped, which has a good beer selection, and bakes pizza. I had a 12", while Matt went for the larger 18". The bartender didn't think he'd be able to finish it, but he polished it off OK. Though I did chide him about leaving a couple of crusts! :D I thought £26 was pushing it a bit for a pizza!

Ruth and the kids were on their way back from Lancaster on the train, which is a very attractive journey through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and we arranged to meet them at a pub next to the station. This is also called The Head of Steam, and part of the same chain as the other one, but a much nicer pub. We had a pint before the travellers arrived, and another with them. I was surprised to see a pin-ball machine in the pub, so gave the kids my £1 coins :) We headed back home together on the bus, and I had a cup of tea, before an early night

It looks like a nice day here, but I have a few odds and ends to take care of, in terms of work, and a bit of housework to do, but I'm sure there'll be a bit of lollygaggin' too ;) Have a great day Guardians

Sticking with my Pals Lamb :)

Sounds like a very nice day for you Jack. And one beautiful LF knife too!

Thanks Jack
The patina does compliment the oak.

I’m sure I’ve posted this video before

Interesting company Mitch  I've probably seen some of their wares for sale. Wright's import their horn from the Far East, probably because it is cheaper  There were dozens of firms in Sheffield, producing knife scales, at one time, but they are a long gone

You lead a busy life my friend, as hard-working as a Bexoid Lamb ;)
Thank goodness 🤣. Hate to have overlooked that and had it made in stainless. I know, scary for a devout carbon steel lover 😉.
LOL! :D You're safe buddy! :D :)

Fantastic pic Steve

Thank you kindly Jack 👍

Nice pic of your '19 👍

Thanks kindly Jack.
It seems you were able to utilize every second of the day.
I like the unique bolster design of PALS...classic.
I tried my best Bob! 😂 Thanks buddy, I like the bolsters a lot, they remind me of Charlie's Washington bolsters, which I think were inspired by an old Schrade design, if I remember correctly 👍
Nice to see your '19 😎 Great pic 🙂👍
Sounds like you had a great day 👍
Thanks Steve, I really enjoyed it 🙂👍

Took me a few hours to catch up with this thread after being away for a week at the OKCA show. I had a really great show, meeting up with old friends and buying a few knives. I spent a few hours trying to get pictures this afternoon, but, overcast and dull here and my camera does not work well with that. I was surprised to find not only one, but, three lamb foot knives a the show. Barrett scooped up the only one that was there last year. I picked up a two blade Eye Witness with black plastic handles, an older Needham and a large (4" closed) IXL Wostenholm. Here is a not so good picture. Once the sun comes out in a few days I will get better pictures of them. I also picked up 2 of the new GEC #41s, with the lamb foot secondary.

You’re definitely the Oregon Lamb Whisperer, Dan. You don’t find them… they find you. 🤣

Sounds like a good time, Jack. H herder and I met up for pizza and beer the other day, but I'm afraid I didn't take any pictures. (And I even had a lambsfoot with me! I've been slacking on my knife picture duties lately. I need to do better.)

Just had my Sunday Sausage Sammich, with 3 pork and apple sandwiches, and Jack Daniels BBQ sauce 😋 That'll definitely keep me going

Sounds tasty, Jack. The other night we were sitting down to dinner, and Scout insisted that we all go around the table and share our favorite way to eat potatoes. She said hers was scalloped potatoes. I asked her, “What about a chip butty.” Her eyes widened and she said, “Ooooh. Chip buttyyyy.” 🤤🤣

How about some Lambsfoot content. Here’s a comparison pic I took today of some GEC Lambsfoot blades. Unfortunately I don’t have an #88 to throw in there (I had one at one point, but it wasn’t my favorite pattern so I moved it along). Personally, I much prefer the nail nick/drawn swedge to the long pull/cut swedge on a Lambsfoot.

GEC definitely likes to make their Lambsfoot blades long and lean. I’d kind of like to see them do a slightly shorter, stockier Lambsfoot someday.

I agree 100 percent on the nicks, Barrett, but disagree on shorter and stockier!! I like the long ones!!
