Really like your HHB buddy 👍
Got almost a foot of snow yesterday, will all be melted by tomorrow. Carrying this one the last few days, I am kind of partial to it.

Verah 😎 🐑 👍

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is well, and having a great weekend :) Apologies for my absence yesterday, but I had a "client emergency" to deal with, but that was done and dusted by lunchtime. Since I was in the city centre anyway, I arranged to meet Matt, whose missus and kids were away visiting her folks in Lancaster, on the dodgy side of the Pennines (the chain of hills which divide northern England). We had coffee and cake in the cafe in Leeds Art Gallery, and then set off on what was a very enjoyable pub crawl, starting at the impressively-restored Victoria & Family Commercial Hotel. After a couple of pints in there, we headed to a modern pub called the Head of Steam, which is part of a chain. It was packed inside, but we got seats, and a couple of pints. I probably wouldn't bother with that place again though. After that we walked to a popular traditional pub near Leeds market, The Duck & Drake, where we had a couple of pints, and chatted to a bloke who'd travelled all the way from Wales to visit his favourite pub :D

We were hungry by this point, so next went to a bar called Tapped, which has a good beer selection, and bakes pizza. I had a 12", while Matt went for the larger 18". The bartender didn't think he'd be able to finish it, but he polished it off OK. Though I did chide him about leaving a couple of crusts! :D I thought £26 was pushing it a bit for a pizza!

Ruth and the kids were on their way back from Lancaster on the train, which is a very attractive journey through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and we arranged to meet them at a pub next to the station. This is also called The Head of Steam, and part of the same chain as the other one, but a much nicer pub. We had a pint before the travellers arrived, and another with them. I was surprised to see a pin-ball machine in the pub, so gave the kids my £1 coins :) We headed back home together on the bus, and I had a cup of tea, before an early night

It looks like a nice day here, but I have a few odds and ends to take care of, in terms of work, and a bit of housework to do, but I'm sure there'll be a bit of lollygaggin' too ;) Have a great day Guardians

Sticking with my Pals Lamb :)

Oak today.
The patina makes that look even better Mitch :)
Cool! Thanks Jack, I bet you it sharpens beautifully if it is anything like my older German knives, its a good looking knife that's for sure!
Thanks Duncan, yeah, it's very slicey :)
Interesting you bring that up my friend, I often think of that, I do remember reading about that, and here is jack who comes in ( below) and helps us out with the information.......

Thanks for that information Jack, I have read that it's not a good idea to place a humidifier in the knife room, apparently the stag will peel like Potato chips.
So Jack how would you reverse it, if you had a small closed room would you place a couple of jars of water in there with no lid? To add some moisture in the air? (Now that could be in the running for the dumbest question yet on BF 😂 ).
There's quite a lot of discussion about horn in the early part of this thread, which is hopefully included in Greg's old Thread Index (see link in post #1). I have a fair bit of horn, and I've had no problem whatsoever with it, except for the time I left 2 newly-purchased knives on my coffee table, and the sun (which gets very hot as my living room is south-facing) got on them. The horn curled up off the liners, and I thought they were ruined, but after putting them away in a drawer, when I looked at them a few weeks later, they were fine. I remember Ron having a similar problem with horn, and I think he put it in a cigar humidor to make it right again, but maybe that was unnecessary.
It will be cold and wet today. Sixty degrees dropping to forty five by 5:00, from eightyish yesterday.

Cosimo de Bendetto of Italy
Fantastic pic Steve
Definitely a looker! :)
Is that knife carbon steel? I can’t remember.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Cosimo's regular carbon, same as L'Ariete
Been carrying a bunch of modern lambs and thought I’d carry something that’s a bit older. Not old old but older. You know what I mean 😁. IXL for today.

Thanks Jack
The patina does compliment the oak.

I’m sure I’ve posted this video before
At 3.20minutes he explains the horn has memory and if not done properly it will curl.
