Good morning Guardians, I set off early to the market, calling in the docs on the way, as they had sent me a message saying I had to go in for an appointment after my chest X-Ray on Monday. They had already made a 10.30am appointment at the practice up the road, and when I asked if this could be changed to the afternoon, I was told that it was urgent. When I asked if it was serious, I was told it was. As I came out of the docs, I bumped into Matt, and told him about my appointment. I also rang Tool Man to let him know I'd be late. Fortunately, I'm not a worrier, so I walked down to the cafe, and had coffee and a Danish pastry, before catching a bus up to the other surgery. I was a bit early, so I had a coffee in the yuppie cafe nearby, which I note has now eschewed their stupid 'card only' policy, and is actively encouraging cash paymentsI sipped the mediocre coffee while chasing any form of internet signal, which is almost unknown in that area, and then went round the corner to the doctors. After a wait in the old-fashioned waiting room, listening to my fellow patients decrying the terrible service and overall poor state of the NHS, my name was called, and I went in to see the young doctor I had seen last week. Since I have an appointment with him next week, he didn't seem to know why I was there at first, but having checked my notes, told me the X-Ray had picked up evidence of a slight infection, and he recommended a short course of antibiotics
I messaged Matt and Tool Man, and caught the bus into town, intending to get an early lunch at the West African food stall, but since it wasn't yet open, I went directly to the Tool Stall. Tool Man and Boring Ray were there, but there was no sign of Gravel, who has injured his shoulder unfortunately, something he first did a couple of years ago. Tool Man was eager to hear about my trip to London, though he's a very bad listener! Nobber Al and Ex-Para Steve were across the way at Nobber Al's record stall. Al was wearing shorts and a ball cap, and with his boyish features, and skinny legs, he looked a bit like he going to an AC/DC-themed fancy dress party. He took the abuse me and Tool Man gave him good-naturedly
Tool Man slipped off to get a pork pie, and I walked down to see Golden Gordon and Robert the Badge. We had few visitors today, but Otley Mick, who we rarely see these days, passed by for a bit. Poor Mick, who, like Boring Ray, has perennial bad luck has just been diagnosed with a relatively minor heart-related condition, which may cost him both his driving license, and his job as a bus-driver

I spotted a couple of old friends passing through the market, both of whom stopped to chat. The second one, Danny, chatted to Tool Man about motorbikes for a while, and I suspect we may see him again
The increasingly superslim Slimline Scott also called in for the first time in a few weeks. It was nice to see him, but since he is a persistently boring conversationalist, I decided it was time to depart, bidding everyone farewell until next week
