@dc50 Jack Black Jack Black
Thank you Dave and Jack. It's a stunning slab of wood.

Wright's were bemoaning the cost of it the other day! Anyone ever bought Ironwood, I'm not sure why it is so desperately expensive, maybe it is only like that when it's imported over here

Heading to antique stores with wife and daughter in a few minutes. Probably won't find any lambsfoots, but I'll see what I can find. Have a great day out, Dave!

Happy Hunting Vince :) Sounds like a great afternoon

That one reminds me of panning for gold with dust swirling around. Nicely captured!

Nice though Michael

[QUOTE="JohnDF, post: 18870908, member: 497385" For me it's laundry, mowing, sending out a knife, and visiting my Mom.[/QUOTE]
I see you mention mowing and laugh, looking out my window and see the snow that has drifted almost up to the bottom of the window!

I hate mowing (did it last Saturday), but would rather mow than shovel snow!

[Edit: not sure how I screwed this up. The first sentence is pjsjr pjsjr 's. Mine is the last sentence only, in bold.]

Smashing pic Ray :) Compared to what it is like today up north, that looks like a lovely day :D

This is what I see in my back yard.
I've got a whole acre that looks just like that. I've got my work cut out for me. Lol

Isn't that a gorgeous Oak though???

Beautiful view John :) I was just admiring the oak :)

It's a Grand daddy for sure. My kids wanted to build a tree house in it, I said, "You ain't touchin' that tree!!! Lol

For a city dweller, I am lucky to live on an old broad tree-lined avenue, lots of beautiful old trees. It is in a conservation area, so the trees are supposed to be protected, but it doesn't stop people cutting one down occasionally unfortunately :( Neighbours tell me that years ago, there were 12 trees in my front garden, but before I moved here (and before the advent of the conservation order), that was reduced to just one :( There are all kinds of trees in the vicinity though, and I love looking at them. The large sycamore in my front garden is certainly not one of the oldest, but I'm glad to have it :)

Yes it is and stately!
I have four acres, mostly pasture grass, some brome. I don't look forward to mowing, but, I did get a larger mower. It has a 54" deck and a more powerful engine 26 horsepower, my old one, which was 46" and 18 HP.

As I said before I don't shovel snow:D When it's this deep I pay for it's removal!

You're like me then. I can just sit and stare at trees and feel good about the experience. It is illegal in our area to cut down an Oak tree unless it has already died.

Wonderful Preston, you're a lucky chap :) Acres are one of those units that I just can't relate to directly in my head, I have to try and relate them to a space I know! :D I'm not saying that our garden was small when I was a kid, but my mother used to cut the grass with a pair of scissors! :D

Yeah, fantastic John, I wish we had more big areas of woodland here, there aren't many a feller could get lost in :( Shortly after I moved to Leeds, 17 years ago now, I broke my leg, and it was difficult for me to get about, as I was on crutches for six months. Being in a new city, made things even harder. I spent a lot of time, just lying on my sofa, looking at the trees in the garden, swaying in the wind, and the birds and squirrels, it was a real tonic. I still do that a fair bit. My desk is next to the window, and I very often stop what I am doing to watch a bird flying overhead, or just to look at the trees. Usually, if I am out in the woods, I am just walking, but I would be happy just to sit down, I'd be there all day! :D :)

I figure being from Sheffield I should probably get myself a lambsfoot.

What's the standard of finish like on the A. Wright examples? I'm picky and gaps really bug me ;)

I thought I'd post a topical Lambsfoot in tree pic ;) Not my carry today, it's my ebony '18 :) The tree is a very old, spreading oak tree, which I have used as a prop for quite a few pics over the years :)

Not the best pic, but here it is

You're not the famous Sheffield cowboy Roscoe Banks are you? ;) You definitely need a Lambsfoot! :) The finish of the standard knives is reasonable, I think, for the price, you will find gaps usually, but only small ones. If you get yourself over to Ecclesall Rd, you can handle a few before you buy (please don't mention any stockists here though as it's against the forum rules)
