Guesses for January 2024 BOTM?

Mine is nice too.
Yeah I have a number of them, and none of them have the pitting or rust that seemed to appear on that offering.

I'm just sorta bummed Buck isn't interested in releasing future ones, per their earlier post.

They have successfully issued them before without issues that I'm aware of.
Many of mine came from a dealer as they were exclusives. No problems either.
You would think coming straight from Buck they would have even greater control.

Oh well.
This topic has been discussed before.
Of course I guess hearing "no more 5160" would elicit reactions.

🙁

Wow, bummer....I really love 5160, it's been real good to me over the years, maybe the best all-around steel for a big blade IMO. Though 3V in it's new iterations is a nice replacement, but still...

I'd prefer 420 or 5160 if it meant higher quality materials elsewhere. 90% of botm are going on display or sit in a box. Steel doesnt really matter to me most of the time. Does buck have that info? What percentage of knives they figure get used vs. Collected?

Also I like 5160 for camp knives.

on folders I don't care much if they don't use 5160.....I like it, but I can survive without it. now fixed blades where its ease of sharpening and toughness work so well.....if it goes away, that makes me very sad. I hope we don't lose Bucks 5160 steel as an option...

Go back and read thru this thread;

"Danny Collection is here..."
Sometimes a thread gets weird and I stop paying attention to it. I just can't maintain interest. I'd forgotten how strange that one was. Tonight I started from the last page and worked by way backwards for a few posts. That was enough.

I think my 104 is in 5160, and it's a great knife.

Anyway, for this month I'd really love it if Santa brought me a 2-bladed 303 that matches one of the 2-bladed 301's from the past couple of years (flat grind, long pull, stag or micarta scales).

I didn't think I would be taken so literal with you fellas. We still use 5160 and will continue too on certain models and special builds just trying to enjoy a laugh with you all.
