am i evil? are you ayn rand cultist gonna stone me? :)

i bought this knife mainly cause the benchmade 158 csk wasnt out yet and i wanted a 1095 blade for my trip to alaska. i researched the knife and only ran across this controversy after i placed my order in early march.

the knife is a damn good knife! ive been breakin' glass and splitting 2x4 all over portland. for everyone to suddenly up and condemn this excellent american made product when just hours earlier they had praised is simply weird.

Hm, not sure that first sentence is the best way to open your tenure here;)....but welcome anyway!

Enjoy your new knife,
Brett

No one has said, in most statements, that they want Ontario run off the planet and out of business - people would like to see them do business honorably.

That includes being honorable with RAT Cutlery - either compensating the designers or stopping production - and make a quality product.

Many of us own RAT knives from Ontario.

RAT Cutlery is by far a step up in quality.

RAT knives are popular for a reason - you've seem to found out why - but the lines coming from RAT Cutlery blow the Ontario offerings away.

I love my RC-4 and will own most of the RAT Cutlery line by the time it's done.

Your research into the "controversy" should be self explanatory - Ontario either needs to cease and desist or fairly compensate Jeff and Mike and try to make it right with them and begin to operate above the board.

I'm not throwing my RATs away but they are a step below my RC!

Welcome!

I think cmdr249 pretty much summed it up.

And as far as Ayn Rand goes it would be literally impossible for there to be such a things as an Ayn Rand "cult" since her whole philosophy was Individualism. ;)

The RAT 5 is a good knife, no doubt, but Rowen's quality simply blows away Ontario. Rowen will be building the RAT-5 for us before too long. Maybe we'll take trade-ins once they come out. :D

Ha-ha.

Cultists? I don't even like Ayn Rand. What you are holding, if the tempering and the grinds are right, is a fairly competent knife, mainly from the merits of its design, and in spite of its manufacturing. I just sold one off myself.

In addition to Ontario becoming disreputable overnight, if about a year is overnight, the deal was sealed when I acquired two RC-4s. Suddenly, the Ontario RATs I had seemed like going from three of these:

To two of these:

Maybe if Ontario wises up and cuts a fair and lucrative deal with the RAT team, they can start making something analogous to this:

One shouldn't hold his breath waiting for Ontario to do the right thing or voluntarily make a decent and entirely legitimate enthusiast knife again.

You sinner! Now us cult of Ayn Rand Individualists are gonna have to get together and force our Individualism on you and force you to like our Indvidualism whether it violates your Individual rights or not! :D

My sentence above raises a good question: can the word "Individualist" also be plural? :D

BTW: I liked your picture story above ;)

there are 14 pages of threatend boycotts and slurs against ontario and at least one anti-ontario website, that sure sounds like trying to drive somebody out of business!
none of us with the exception of the self-described rednecks at RAT really know whats going on. our focus should be on the knives dont ya think?

my knife was ordered on 3-13-08, it bears the name RAT as well as ontario. i think the people of RAT cutlery should honor all warranty claims for the knife or refund to me their percenatge of the royalties from this knife sale.

gentlemen honor their agreements. after all the fight is not btwn me and RAT! why should we the little guy again be cheated? i expect better ethics from small businessmen.

i wonder if theres a disagreement btwn you and rowen, will all the RC's be suddenly substandard knives? what does that say about what you put your name on? are all the knives prior to the posting of the lawsuit somehow better made than the ones one minute later?

RAT by "taking this to the streets" you have opened up a whole can of worms. this really should have stayed professional btwn the lawyers and the two parties. trust in your product by consumers is all really any business has and you disparaging your own knives is jarring to say the least.

dude,

I for one am not THREATENING a boycott, I am BOYCOTTING them.

Guys, he has 2 posts. Whoever it may be is not worth the debate. Seriously. Ignore it.

who i am is a consumer of RAT products who is asking difficult questions.

so much for "individualism" and all that hooey; the herd closes ranks when another DIFFERENT opinion is spoken.

RAT cutlery id really like you to anwser my complaint on warranties. thru pm or email preferably. im a customer of yours for less than 2 weeks; this is not the best way to begin a relationship!

plz email me at mauser-30.06@hotmail.com

my two other favorite brands case and benchmade have always been courteous and professional companies when it comes to custmer service.

i ask you as a customer of yours, RAT do you stand behind your knives?

I'll answer your question on warranty. Real simple: you bought an Ontario manufactured knife and Ontario handles all the warranty work - at least I assume they will. They won't communicate with Mike or I so I can't say whether they will or not. Give them a call and ask them.

If you're just here to wage your own personal war then you'll most likely wage your war alone. You can call me on my cell phone at 256-527-2808.

it's not different opinions that anyone is closing ranks on. it's someone spouting off like a moron. Your posts fall squarely in the latter category.

read the thread you referred to. plenty disagree and still buy rat. they also dont' act like a dumbass in the process.

what's wrong with your knife?

Relationship? You've alreay proven you have no interest in that.

We love everyone. Including trolls. They're cute and live under bridges.

that's ok, there's ways to deal with trolls.

By the way, did anyone see the article in Blade this month by Jeff? Gots some great pictures.

;):D
