Gun Picture Thread

Nice! Do you know if the round you're modeling there has a flat-base or a boat-tail? Any chance you know the BC?

I need to change a couple of things and re-compile to do 12 yard increments, later on i'll make that adjustable in the GUI. Also going to add a G7 drag table for boat-tails at longer ranges. It's going to be a small simple app, but i'm going to dial-in the accuracy of it to the nth degree. I got the logic done yesterday for factoring in temps, humidity, and barometric pressure (based on calcs from the elevation param).
Not sure what the ballistic coefficient would be. Like Hammer said above, different brands, powders, bullet construction, bullet weight, barrel length, etc, will affect that chart some, which is for a 55gr bullet out of a 16” barrel. It will get you close, but depending on the load you are shooting, you will have to physically shoot and verify for yourself. Most xm193 loads will be a boat tail 55gr bullet with a cannelure.

Okay did a quick model zero'ed at 36, the BC I just approximated as a number of commercial 55 gr cartridges have .274 listed (which seems to be on the high side for .223 rounds) at 3000 fps, sea level, 70 degrees, 50% humidity, 2 inch sight height. This is just prelim testing of this app and i'm nowhere near done yet, but the results look pretty sweet from zero out to around 240 yards the round never goes above or below more than 2.3 inches, that's perfect for a 200 yard shooting range. Here's the top portion of the chart, had to reduce size so it would fit so the numbers may be hard to read.

:)

I love my Valor. Very smooth now with the flat wire spring, and getting used to EDC'ing a heavier gun, too .... I still blame you, Alone Alone and Hammer67 Hammer67 for having 3 1911 in the house now.
I wondered if you still had the stainless one. Haven't seen it lately so I figured it left when the Valor came in.
Damn, I used to have a Kimber that was almost identical to that one...I really miss it, last divorce cost me that and a whole lotta other stuff, spent the last 15 years trying to get most of it back. 😣 Great looking 1911, mine was nice and accurate too.
Sorry man. Hopefully one finds it's way to you.
