I just got my K-frame Smith, 48-7 "Classic" (*.22 WMR)
back from the S&W Warranty Department, for the
SECOND time... (*Fedex just brought it to my door)
A few months back, I sent it in because the barrel was
clocked in the 11 o'clock position, and I had to back-out the rear sight,
all the way to the left, just to get it to hit
almost center at 15 yards. When it returned, supposedly "repaired" from the first visit, the rear sight was damaged, the frame was scratched (*just above the trigger), and the barrel still appeared clocked. So,
back it went to S&W.
Anyhow, the
current enclosed paperwork states that they addressed the barrel, replaced the rear sight, and refinished the frame and cylinder. To my eyes, the barrel still appears "clocked". When I get a chance, I'm going to leg-it-out, to about 35 yards, and
see what happens.
Man, what has happened to Smith?
When I attended and
graduated the Regional Police Academy, in '92, S&W was a "premier" brand and
revolver manufacturer. Now, from personal experience...and from much of what I've seen/read on the internet...they appear to be
slipping.
From just a position of
"nostalgia", I sincerely
HOPE that they get their sh!t together.
