Gunman

Jeff is right boys, you won`t understand him,and if you do,back on your meds.Well.I`ve packed a SAA.45 many a mile.In fact it is prety much worn out.Oh.I can rebuild it,and it will stll knock you in the dirt.
Some years ago I ran into Bill Wilson. He was a gunsmith with MIL,and LEO connections,I had nothing to offer,at the time.
We were not friends, really.I ordered some of his .45`s,to my specs. These 1911`s are gone, but the next batch,I wanted other thngs.I do not like the idea of an abixderous safty.Too complex;Bill had one that worked. Why can`t you use your trigger finger?Anyway this all evolved into the Tactal Elite.100%realibility,(mine shoot 1" at 50yds.),this cost extra,if it is even possible. It is possible and I have weapons that will do it.They are all perfectly matched for balance. All 5.Not counting the two chopped and channeled ones.If the Gestapo ever come in shooting.more than one .45 is not going to matter.

But having a bunch helps make it more likely that that one you need will be there and working when it is needed.

Might as well get em while ya can. Big Brother wants to get them all for himself !!

:
I have a #4 Mark 1 SMLE
smile.gif

And 2 stripper clips for it.Maybe I can pick up some more at the G & K show coming up.

I also have a nice little Ruger Security Six,4" and the Marlin Carbine in 357 Mag.And a couple of others tucked here and there, but nothing like what most guys have.

I have always had more knives than guns.I always figured that if I had a knife I could get a gun.

I knew something didn't look right up there.$4 indeed.

As the old saying goes, "Your first gun only needs to be good enough to get you your second one."

OTOH, the Russians had a point about quantity having a quality all it's own. Purely a theoretical point of course. Who would ever need more than one gun? Why would anyone who isn't paranoid think they needed a gun in the first place?

Does anyone knows how well the 20 round SKS fixed mags work? Years ago I took mine apart and installed the 20 rounder, then wrapped it back up in cosmo. It is just like the fixed 10 round standard SKS mag, only longer.

Rusty:
I sure don't know, but I do know the large capacity AK 47's are nice.My b-i-l had one of those.I don't know if he still does or not.

I went to boot the first part of Jan.in 1965.The rifle of the day was the M-14.That was some rifle!!
I would like to have one of the civilian models. What are they an M1A1? I can never remember unless I have one in my hands.I like the little Ruger Mini-14 also.I would dearly love to have one of those in .308 calibre.I think my cuz told me there were some of those made except they were a little bigger or something. As you can tell I don't know much about guns.

I do know that the little Sec.Six I have has been worked on by the previous owner and/or a good gunsmith.I have had it for about 20 years now. That is one of the smoothest pistols I have ever shot.
When I first got it I was very pleasantly surprised. All you have to do is "think" about squeeseing the trigger and the deed is done.It sure made me appreciate a trigger pull of that weight.I was used to an old Walther P-38,but that is another story.

To keep this on track for this forum Yvsa, I will simply say I need to get some of those M4, M5, M6, and M7 knives. And check your email.

Rusty made a good point,by saying.stay out of Dodge.BG`s have bad things happen to them.I know the judges. If I want, you are going to get max.You really have to ask for it.If.on the other hand.you are just someone who made a mistake,Daniel can help. The sword cuts both ways.I do not have to bust anyone.

Yvsa --- The Mini-30 is in .308. It's the same gun as the mini-14 and uses the same round the AK 47 uses.

You can get all of the M-14`s,M-16`s and wharever, thanks to the NVA.The US lost possesion by right of conquest. They are about a hundred $US.AK`s are about $40US.

And to think guys are paying over 1K for a Springfield M1A, or that I paid just under that for a DCM match AR!

:
Thanks Jay.
The mini-30 is what I was thinking about. That would be a nice size and weight for me.

Ghostsir I will be writing you about the M-14s.

The 20-round fixed SKS magazine works fine, much more reliably than detachable-mag conversions, and you can load it faster with stripper clips. A friend of mine has a 30-round on his; trouble with that is it's pretty long for prone shooting -- I think you're probably better off with the 20-round; that ought to be plenty. Just keep topping it off with stripper clips and you'll *never* run dry.

The SKS is not an inherently inaccurate rifle -- with a little tuning you can easily get better than 1MOA out of it and some of the guys on rec.guns are getting much better accuracy than that. Probably some of you are freaking out at the idea that a rifle with a reputation for paper-plate-size groups can do that, but there's nothing wrong with the design; the only reason they're inaccurate is the execution -- they were mass-produced with no concern for accuracy and didn't get much hand work at the factory -- but you can do that yourself and get yourself an accurate semi-auto for very little buck$ and a little work.

The Ruger, on the other hand, is a fine rifle if you don't care about accuracy. Accurizing the Ruger is a very expensive and difficult procedure, more expense and trouble than it's worth.

Mandatory on-topic paragraph -------> A khukuri is a lousy design for a bayonet. I suggest carrying the khukuri separately.

Thank you muchly, Cougar. Those old chinese sks's at $100-$120 a rifle, and the fixed 20 round mags for about $25 were the deal of a lifetime. ( mandatory knife reference ) Of course WE ALL KNOW IT'S ILLEGAL to mount the spike bayonets to them so we didn't bother buying them, right? Just that much more for khukuries and No.4*1 and No.4*2's.

You've got company Bill. I own a few more, but the 38 is usually the one close at hand. Don't tell the tactical crowd.

Or the old Winchester model 70, 270 cal. I inherited from my dad.
