Gunstocks, who likes them?

You prob'ly couldn't tell from my 'alias', but I like 'em a lot!

Wendell Carson Gunstock Trappers in camel bone, ivory, and mammoth ivory:

Early '80's KABAR Gunstock Jacks in jigged bone, mother of pearl, and stag:

My only Gunstock ... nicknamed "Thunder" by Black Mamba (Jeff). It's just slightly larger than a Calf Roper in length and width and closed height. But make no mistake - the thickness of this blade and its saber grind is impressive ... this no fruit "slicer"! Schatt & Morgan, File & Wire Series - Golden Wormgroove (ATS-34). This is the capstone of my modest collection.

That was one of my all time favorites.

I started liking gunstocks the first time I saw that J.Oeser one that is in his profile picture. The one that is owned by a fellow forumite here. Hopefully he will post it and I won't steal his thunder. I'm absolutely in love with that knife.

Only have one right now, but I like it a lot! It fills the hand better than some other traditionals

getout87, I'm embarrassed to say I've never posted a picture before and haven't had the time to sit down and figure it out. I may get some time tomorrow afternoon.

As it happens, I count myself in the same boat as you in that I was never a particularly big fan of the pattern until I saw Jared's.

He has made two versions. Single blade, medium, and a two bladed large.

I own the larger.

The cattle in the background are being sorted for branding, tagging, and castration. I used the gunstock to cut a few.

Next to the branding irons. Getting hot!

It got put away dirty for about two days, until I could get home and wash it off.

one of Jared's superb photo's.

This is the spring and blade before it was ground.

It gets used.

This is the exact knife I was hoping to see, sir. If you ever want to sell this, please let me know. I am in love with this one.

Don't have one YET, but Gunstock is one of the two patterns I am on a lookout for ATM.
Keep up the pics, the more I see of them the sooner I'll buy one... or two. :D

Now, that's a knife.

I only have the one, a Kabar given to me by Wilgoy here.

It is shown with the somewhat abused but salvageable straight jack with similar covers.
