Guyot Pimp Idea....

Marion, you also spurred me to get a couple of capCaps for my guyots :D

Just got them today, and they are a vast improvement over the original caps + splash guard. I've been getting annoyed with my stock guyot caps because they've started leaking and won't seal correctly. I carry a guyot and cup in my Pygmy Falcon for EDC, and it's a bit frustrating when you stand up after holding the pack in your lap while commuting to find that you look like you've pissed yourself:grumpy:. Also, those cap leashes on the stock guyot caps are just a tad bit annoying when you want to remove the cap completely.

I think these capCaps will solve my problems nicely and add better functionality

So, I picked up an older Guyot without the Nalgene labeling and have a question. Why does it say "not for use with hot liquids" on the bottom? Wasn't that the selling point for us all?

Also, I grabbed a capCAP which looks to be a vast improvement over the original cap.

Okay, as I look at it here, it doesn't look to be made from one solid piece of stainless steel. The top rings seem set on top of the rest of the bottle and glued down. That can't be right can it?

EDIT: after double checking I can confirm, yes, it does have glue on rings. If you tilt the bottle you can see the tiniest gap under the rings where it meets the neck of the bottle. I'm not so sure this would be a good thing for me to hang over a fire.... I know my Kleen Kanteen bottle is made from a single seamless piece of steel. Why isn't this one the same?

Good to hear it!

Got some new gear for the pimping. Rather than the GSI glacier to nest under it (which I'll keep for a camp cup since it's heavy) I'll be nesting the Snow Peak Mini Solo Cookset which includes a pot and a lid underneath. On longer trips with more people, I can nest the GSI on top for maximum utility. All of which still fit in a Maxpedition bottle holder. They can be had for a very decent price considering what some companies charge just for a Ti-ware cup OR pot. Very reasonable deal and very LIGHT.

Been eyeing the Snow Peak solo cook set for a while now, good to know it nests so well and fits in the Maxped bottle holder. And thanks for the pic

I like the look of that.

I just wish they had the same set in steel...
