Hail the mighty 9!

Nice looking scales acer. Where'd ya git em. I like the grain and the swells
Thanks!
I made them from some cherry wood that I got from my wife's grandfather.
I wasn't sure how durable they'd be, but they've held up well to heavy use for a few years, and they still look just as good as when I made them.

The 9 is definitely my favorite Becker knife.
I like the look of a well worn blade, but when most of the paint was worn on mine I decided to strip the rest.

I have thought about stripping mine on a few occasions, but can't make myself do it, haha.

Thanks!

Nice job acer. Handmade:thumbsup:

Put a coat of Sno Seal on the scales.

Man, those scales look so warm and comfy...
Like the used patina also  No forced bull..

Thanks! I have a leather one being made for it, but it will be a few weeks before it's done, so I'll sell you this kydex one once I get the leather one in!

Bravo did you see that gator skin 710 sheath that nutoknives has. Check it out in the Bk20 thread. Its sweet!!!

Ordered a BK9 from Tomar's yesterday, looking forward to receiving it. The new coating feels like sandpaper to me. It gives me the 'fingernails on a chalkboard' feeling when I draw it from a sheath,so afraid it will be stripped before I use it. Might order a micarta handle for it next month, though probably the grivory handles will work fine. Nothing wrong with a big knife ,probably pair it with a mora and saw to get the most out of it.

Looks great, I couldn't stand watching someone else have all the fun so I ordered a 9 for myself.

It darkens them up a little. Those pics above are before and after. There are certain types of really "fibrous" micarta that darken drastically with a coat of petroleum or sno seal.

I use BLO on my Becker knives scales but it does darken them quite a bit.

Of course I've found that no matter what I do, I've found that all Becker micarta scales turn dark anyway from being grabbed by sooty hands around a campfire. I'll post a pic later to demonstrate.
