I have something incredibly AWESOME!! A friend from Alaska inquired about a Villain in Ivory. <- WHAT?
IVORY!

He sent me a piece of marine ivory. It is actually a very interesting process. I don't know all the specifics, but the piece must be 40 years old and apparently if you are not Native American or Eskimo you have to document everything.

Here is the base piece.

A quick mid-carving pic. I always intend to get more pics during the process, but it never fails I get all caught up in the carving and forget.

I can't take pics worth shxt.

Having cleared that up, it's story time.

I've been a Willydigger fanboy since I first saw his work. For reference, see the very long post a ways back, including a suggestion for Cthulu.

So when I saw that he had carved a wooden one, I just about climbed through the Internet trying to ask him if he could make one in Everdeen Green.

When I ordered a custom Everdeen Green Cthulu from WillyDigger, my wife got to it when it arrived, and wrapped it up for Christmas.

She does stuff like that.

When I finally unwrapped it, there was only one choice of what to hang it on, and that was my Dogfish. I got one from CRKT, and wasn't terribly impressed, until I emailed Tom Krein, and asked him if he would make a new sheath for it. The factory one drops the knife when it gets warm, but the custom job I got from Tom would probably hold the knife through a tossing around that would kill me!

I like secure retention, especially since Tom sharpened it before sending it back, and it now shaves hair.

It took a while, so I said it in General Knife, and now I'm saying it in Willy's thread: Thank you Willydigger, and Tom Krein!
