Hard Core Survival Situation

I'm not sure there's much you can do against 4 or 5 pits. Shooting them can work -- eventually -- but plan on using at least half a hi-cap magazine per dog. So you may get two dogs before the others are on you. Once they are on you, it's going to suck. Maybe a stun baton? I mean a high powered one, not 60,000 volts. I've seen a stun baton knock a bull out for half an hour. Not a pit bull, a bovine with horns bull.

I've mentioned before that scum bags like to drop off dogs in my area, and when they go feral, they have to be killed. They move so damn fast that theya re hard to hit ont he move by a pistol or rifle, a shotgun with OO or OOO buckshot being preferred.

But I don't know anyone who carries one with them. Even if you did, once you saw the attack start, you may only get one or two before they are on you.

have trained all breeds of dogs in schutzhund, security, guard, police, attack, drugs.hearding for a number of years, pits, rotts, dobs, giant snazers, buvia, probably every working breed known to man, if you have these types of dogs please learn to handle them responsably, if you see one running loose thats a threat, kill it before it kills someone or a child. i can easily take out one well trained attack dog, with my bare hands two or more and your screwed, have seen a lot of dogs become more aggressive when sprayed with pepper spray, was training a rottie for a security detail that would not release the sleeve for anything a shock collar on his neck another taped to his nuts, only bit harder when shocked.

Well to go off on a tangent for a second Machinest, what breed do you think responds best to obedience?

I had a couple of border collies whose ability to do stuff was only limited by my ability to tell them what I wanted.

They could be in a dead run 100 yards from me and I could down them and they'd fall to the ground.

On the other hand the border collie I got after them was too nervous, aggressive to stock and had too short of an attention span. 25 yards was about her limit on any command except come.

I have seen a number of German Shepherds that seemed to be not too hyper and very obedient.

Is there any breed that you think overall the chances of getting one that will take to training are better than the others??

My old Border Collies spoiled me they were amazing and they were the first dogs I ever tried to train so it wasn't my skill it was all them.

my theory is gut knife one real bad and throw it to its buddies.

just a theory mind you.

That's my thinking also... If you could get your knife out, albeit you'd be f*cked up from the initial attack, but i think somone could defend themselves from and or kill a pack of pitbulls.

maybe i am nieve. Or just detemined to not be dispatched by a pack of dogs.

I'd do whatever it takes.

But within reason i would be dealing with the owner of the dog(s) most severely.

would say a well bred border collie would be a the top of the list, not a backyard bred pos, but even in a well bred litter their is usually a couple of pups that have problems, that hinder training and performance, the best way to train dogs is to imprint from birth to 12 weeks very critical time span for dogs since thats when their brain develops the fastest. you can also have the best genes in the world and end up with a pos if not raised properly.

do keep in mind that especially belgian and german shepherds have been bread to kill and as law enforcement dogs for the last 200 years

German Shepherd is a relatively "young" breed, 1899.

"The German Shepherd Dog (GSD, also known as an Alsatian), (German: Deutscher Schäferhund) is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany.[2] German Shepherds are a relatively new breed of dog, whose origins date to 1899."

I would that my two wlaking buddies, Leonidas and Maximus, could do enough damage and the three of us could get out. I'd take them to the vet afterwards, of course.

Leo and Max are twin brothers, both half Great Dane-half Rhodesian Ridgeback.
