Hey all. Looking to get a folder thag will hopefully become my primary edc blade. Wanna spend around $250, prefer not to go over. Looking for something that I don't have to worry about using pretty hard every day. At work it's a lot of tape, cardboard, and some wood trimming. Maybe some other misc uses. Out of work it will be used in the woods, around the house, etc.

-3 - 3.5 inch blade.
-Size/heft doesn't matter, heavy over built is okay but not necessary.
-something that is durable with decent retention for the edge (I suck at sharpening) as far as blade material.
-open to different locks..frame, liner, axis etc.
-handle material can be anything durable. Don't like full titanium or any metal for that matter.
-love sheepsfoot blade. Not a huge fan of tanto. Otherwise all is fair.

I've not much experience with knifes over the $100 range so I just want some different opinions.

Thanks guys!

Ritter Griptilian in M390...or, you could go with a lesser steel & get a regular grip with a sheepsfoot blade.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley

IMO, you won't find a better knife for the price. It's definately not the "sexiest" knife, but very functional it is:thumbup:

Second this. And with a $250 budget you can get a Benchmade 550 griptilian as well.

To you both, I have looked at the Gayle Bradley before and I do like it a lot. I'm not doubting it, but by its looks it doesn't seem like a hard use tank kind of knife. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I just need to buy it and see.

And a bonus 550 grip would be cool too!

Thanks again!

Don't need to spend $250 for a hard-use folder.

Cold Steel's Recon and Lawman lines in tough CTS-XHP steel, DLC coating, super strong Tri-Ad lock, and G10 handles. Recons also come with a choice of Spear Pt, Clip Pt, or Tanto. $90~$105

I have a Recon 1. It is a beast.

Grayman could be an option, if I have to stretch the budget.

Emerson just doesn't do it for me, not sure why.

Don't blame you not wanting an Emerson, don't care for them either.

If your looking for something strong and up to the abuse I think a Zero Tolerance fits what you are looking for. The 0562 which has already been mentioned would be a great knife, the Elmax steel holds a very good edge and is fairly easy to sharpen.

If you don't already have one you should invest in a Spyderco sharpmaker, it makes knife sharpening quick and easy.

Have had a few of these...a GREAT knife; will fit your needs very well.

You would be very wrong about the GB. It's very much a hard use knife.
