Hard use ~$250 folder

ZT 900. You should have money left over.
If you could come up with an extra 50 bucks, the Three Sister Forge Beast is a fine knife.

It is under your budget, but why not something along the lines of an Ontario RAT 1 or 2, or a Buck 110?
For your work needs, a slipjoint would be more than enough for the tasks you mentioned.
For your budget, you could get the RAT, a Buck 110, and a Buck 301 stockman, and have enough left over to take the family to a buffet restaurant and a movie.

Is there any reason that you're not looking at fixed blades if the locks are your issue?
The lock isn't an issue, necessarily.

However I have one fixed blade I already carry and I'm going to order one of the new bradford guardian 3s.

Just looking for some things so I can change it up from time to time.

I "rented" a Grayman Dua for a short time and was very impressed with the quality and sturdiness. Very well build folder that one. I will also say that all the Cold Steels I have handled/owned have all been very solid and inspire confidence. The Adamas is a great option from BM, but I have not had any "hard use" folders from Spyderco to comment. The Southard was extremely well built as well though. Also I really like my ZT 550 and it is my current go-to for harder use activities. Although most all of the ZT's I have owned feel very capable and solid.

Thanks for the input sir. Will consider.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley

IMO, you won't find a better knife for the price. It's definately not the "sexiest" knife, but very functional it is:thumbup:
You are exactly right my friend... CPM-M4 is an AMAZING steel and will hold up to anything. The knife is incredibly smooth too.

Awe crap. This isn't my thread. But now I must have a GB. I don't know why I always disassociated specs and pics, and envisioned the Bradley as a smaller to mid sized. After seeing that vid and the size in Gayles hands, it just may have moved to the top of the list. Dayyum the wife is gonna kill me because I'm going to want both the one and two.

I'm definitely getting one also. What's the difference between. The 1 and 2?

I didn't know that Bradford was coming out with new Guardian 3's; they're damn sweet!

I have made my decision. I am going to go with the GB (1 not 2). Along side with a Manix LW s110v. Sometimes I may carry both, sometimes one or the other.

Right now I have been carrying a CRKT ( I know, I know ) M21-14DSFG primarily while the benchmade is out for repair. I like it. It's kind of cool. It gets the job done.

However it is not a slicer, and I have to sharpen it quite often. And it tears up my pants/pocket.

I'm looking forward to putting these new blades into the rotation.

I thank everyone for their input and opinions, they have helped more than you know.

Dustin

Dustin,

Great choice! Both are great blades with premium steel. The GB is certainly up for hard use and the fit-and-finish surpasses its price point by a considerable amount.

Nice choice Dustin on the s110v and the GB. Both are amazing knives and you've listed the uses for each knife perfectly. One slicer and one hard use. Keep the GB Frog Lubed up, it gets into the steel and will protect from the elements.

Thanks for the frog lube hint [emoji3]
