Where did you go to charm school bud?
How about some photos of all these hard use knives that have been really used hard and SHOW IT instead if looking like they have lived in a drawer.
How can people recommend a knife for hard use and never used it that way is beyond me.....
I won't hold my breath on that one.
OMG!!!!! Here are photos of a knife that has been used for over 5 years and used hard..... Notice it has wear on the blade and handle...wear marks, yeah that's what they look like..... OMG!!!!!!!
Man whats with all the shouting?
The knives in the pics dont look like theyve been used hard because in most cases they havent been (YET). A lot of us take our pictures when the knife is new and shiny.
On the other hand G10 does a great job of resisting scratching. A knife can be years old and the G10 still looks very good. Then what if the person likes nice looking blades can uses a can of metal polish to get rid of the marks every once and awhile.
All that being said I like knives that look well used and youve got a nice looking one.
I just get tired of some recommending knives for certain things and have no experience with them in that role. You can tell if a knife has been used or not, polishing the blade or not it won't take all the scratches out.
A knife that is really used will look used.
Again like I said most people will photograph a knife when its new. Many people don’t have one hard use knife, they’ve got 5, or 10 this spreads the wear and scratches out a ton. I know that if I combined all the wear of the knives in my edc rotation into one blade, it would look like it got ran over.
Happy now?
The ER is one tuff sumbitch mates.
I have to opine in here for a Cold Steel also. I can't speak for Emersons cause I hate chisel grinds. Working in industrial maintenance, I abuse the crap out of my knives. The only ones that hold up are Cold Steel, specifically large & medium Voyagers. Using Channelocks to baton through 3/8" UHMW tends to destroy folders. Not my Cold Steels, though.
I understand your premise. It's one thing to have a strong knife but it's another thing entirely to use it. I agree. I have a fetish for destruction tests, and I mean really destroying, not pushing an envelope a bit. Like how much pressure from a hydraulic ram could X and Y and Z knife stand? I plan on having some titanium liners made for my ER MPC just for the hell of it.

Destruction tests are cool but the conditions are difficult to control. Cars are crashed tested but look at how much work goes into isolating the variables involved.
What other knives have you tried?I have to opine in here for a Cold Steel also. I can't speak for Emersons cause I hate chisel grinds. You can break most folding knives by simply locking them in a vise and slapping them sideways with your hand.![]()
