Harness Jacks - Special Orders

Almost pulled the trigger on one of those great SFOs with the improved punch, but I kept holding out for one of the standard jobs in Primitive bone with a bit of color, and the wait finally paid off. This one has a smattering of green and even a hint of blue.

Beautiful knife Rick, I've been toying with getting a #85 pattern and the harness punch option tipped the balance. I've ordered one in primitive bone, before I saw your beauty. If mine is half as pretty as yours i'll be a happy puppy:)

It would also be kind of neat, since the pattern is off an original Case, if they would use appaloosa bone, since Case used a variation of it also.

Here is a GEC example of appaloosa bone.

They would look so good shod in this! Sold out immediately:thumbup::D
Some of their acrylics would be well worth considering too. Lava Lamp, Black&Gold, Tortoise, Sea Glass etc Why not Micarta for that matter?
This is set to be a really desirable knife, compact size, fine Serp lines.

It looks like the cat will just not stay in the bag! So I may as well tell the tale ;

It all started when a guy named Jim Parker managed to own W.R.Case and Sons for a brief time.
He fairly quickly decided to sell off (some say "loot") parts of the Factory Collection, in a vain attempt to stave off bankruptcy (alleged). These lovely knives were dispersed throughout the community, and this one was offered to me a number of years ago, to purchase. I still consider returning it to the Factory Collection, maybe when I am a little older, but for now I'll enjoy it.
It's a Case Tested XX 62074 1/2PU.

Here is a scan of the catalog for the sale auction. The (same) knife is the top one, of course.

The handle pattern is nearly identical to GEC's 66 serpentine pattern, which was part of the inspiration. GEC went to great lengths to come up with an authentic punch, improving it very slightly, to make an impressive knife. I'm feeling like this will be our best production/reincarnation of an antique knife, to date!

That Sir is a stunning knife!, ...lovely shape to that blade, well...lovely everything to that knife, thanks for showing us Charlie!... just fantastic

That Appaloosa (sp?) bone dye pattern is one I have always liked. A knifemaker on here has two daughters who ride Appaloosa horses, and talked me out of the two I had, as presents for them!
What a great, silver-tongued Dad!!:D

Glad you like that old Case knife, Duncan, et. al. You can imagine my delight at seeing it for sale! I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough.
I don't think I stayed very cool, but I was charged fairly for it.

Amazing knife Charlie! That's just an
excellent example! Thanks very much
for sharing it...

Now that's funny. Brought a smile to my face. ;)

I like the care they take in matching up the handles! You don't find that attention to detail in most other cutleries!
Looks like the punches are back from heat treating!

Image update...

Charlie, I don't know if there will be other handle options but these two look awesome...I can already feel the HJ6 crawling into my hands in the dark...

3 handles:
The ebony wood handles darken when polished - similar to last years. The acrylic looks real close to the picture, when finished. The jigged bone is still being experimented on.
Interesting shield a-coming!!

I want one ( of each ).... :glee:
Are there orders being taken for these?....
Did someone hear me?... I want one of each.
Please can I have one of each..

Please :o

Obviously, I was kidding about the queue...but I know that when Charlie will post the pics of these HJ's, many people would go for them.
The #66 frame was the first one that caught my eye when I discovered GEC knives, and a HJ based on that frame, and with that awesome punch design, is a sure hit.
I'm an ebony fan, so maybe I'm biased (ok, I definitely am) but I feel like ebony fits this pattern like a glove. But, of course, I know many people here love jigged bone...and as for acrylics, the look of these is great...mmm...Duncan I'm beginning to see your point here....
