Harness Jacks - Special Orders

I like that Valley Forge Charlie. That other knife is okay too. :D

Charlie when i went to your link, i saw the Richard Rogers Horsemans knife in post #79 and thought this was the knife you had received. Wow. Absolutely The ZENITH of Custom folding knives and a match for the best of the vintage Rodgers.
With huge envy i returned to this thread and re-read your post. Oh, your knife is in post #80, and a fine HJ indeed, but i am grateful for also seeing the Horseman's knife. Maybe you could talk your GEC friend into making a small run of this one ?
GEC is bringing back the Best of USA vintage folders. Now, onto Sheffield !

This is bad, bad thread... this makes me want to go and buy if I get somewhere nice GEC big jack or harness jack.... Just lovely knives though. Maybe gec can make more harness jacks in tear drop frame? That is so, so good in my hands.

Roland, Richard spans the gamut of customs. He's been making some "EDC"/workmans' knives lately, but the Horseman is an amazing example of the higher form of the art.
He's been to Sheffield!

Mr. Jamppa, I believe GEC has made some more Teardrop HJs!

I'm liking the looks of this one!

The cat has gotten partway out of the bag!!

Those are test forgings for the next punch. Similar punches have been used on several old brands of folders from Sheffield, Solingen, and many from the USA cutleries of the last century.
The model for this one was found on a Case Tested HJ from the 1920s-1930s.
The "fold-over" provides the eccentric shape that will cut a circle, and also provides a "lift" or "pull" to open the punch blade for use.
I haven't found a patent for it. Maybe there isn't one. But the knife is going to be great!
It's a pattern I haven't used before, and the "model" knife has an interesting story behind it!;)

Like I said earlier I'm really looking forward to more details on this one as well but is it possible that a pic of it is already out there we just didn't know it was for Charlie? I'm just throwing that out there because on GEC's web site they have a pick of a knife on the #56 frame with a master clip and spey blade on one end and a puch on the other, I think its called the Wrangler. Anyway just thinking out loud.

As for the cat getting out of the bag...
Rumors (and a couple pics on the website of a well known PA knife factory) speak of a HJ based on the 3,5" #66 serpentine frame (not the Wrangler - which is, apparently, on the #57 frame, even though it has a punch - but something different and so far unseen).
So Charlie...when will we see the bag fall empty on the floor and hear the cat on the roof? :D

Almost pulled the trigger on one of those great SFOs with the improved punch, but I kept holding out for one of the standard jobs in Primitive bone with a bit of color, and the wait finally paid off. This one has a smattering of green and even a hint of blue.

Wow...that's the way Primitive Bone should look....great catch....

I am in total agreement with Jim here, Rick, your knife is an absolute stunner.. lovely photo by the way as well.
