Has anyone else seen how much Assisted knives.com rags Benchmade?

Political bs, I don't even hate frost cutlery that much. He is clearly out of his mind, he says Benchmade is cheap junk, I bet he has never even owned one. I am not sure what you call the opposite of a fan boy, but he is it.

Hahah yah. I have been searching ICE and online for this stuff he is talking about and I can only find his stuff on it. Weird lol.

He's been around a while. I read some of this a year or two back; something's not quite right in the noggin, methinks.

Clearly someone that has far too much time on their hands. I believe that troll was banned off this site, and for good reason.

He wants free knives, they wouldn't give them to him, he takes shots at their products.

Not sure of this with that site in particular, but this is VERY typical of blogs/review on line gear sites.

But the question is: does BM have the rights for spyderhole?

There are numerous threads on the Spyderco Forum where different inidviduals have stated that an agreement exists between Spyderco and Benchmade regarding the use of the "spyderhole".

In none of the theads I've seen has Sal or anyone at Spyderco refuted, corrected or even commented on those statements. Since it's their forum I would therefore presume that an agreement does exist.

You can't patent or get rights for a hole. Yeah, Spyderco used it first, but that doesn't mean that others who want to use it would need to give money to Spyderco for the ''rights''.

Know your US copyright law, do ya?

Busse has rights to the Talon hole .... I don't know how that compares to the Spydie hole.

Seems that maybe they could have had rights to it.

It serves more of a purpose, as a means of opening the blade, than the Talon being a hole in the guard.

In fact, Spyderco did have a patent for a hole when used for the specific purpose of opening knives with one hand, but it has since expired.

What they now have is a Trademark for the hole as a recognizable design element of a knife (or something like that).

If they have an agreement does it matter? I believe that I heard something about them having an agreement on it anyway. Plus I havn't heard of Benchmade getting sued.
