Has anyone else seen how much Assisted knives.com rags Benchmade?

The ball bearing lock is just as close to the button or plunge lock as the bolt lock. One is just turned 90 degrees. I still think it is much more similar to an AXIS lock and is the inspiration behind it. Similarities can be found between lots of things. I find the AXIS lock much more similar than the bolt lock. Arguments can be made for both sides which is why it will never be settled.

I understand you and feel patents are issued on obvious differences, but the courts work on evidence.

Evidence decides the issue.

If they have an agreement does it matter? I believe that I heard something about them having an agreement on it anyway. Plus I havn't heard of Benchmade getting sued.
Since you asked, yes it does, at least to some of us. An agreement made after the fact, between a large company and a small one, may be more a reflection of the smaller company's realization that defending their rights would cost more than they can afford than that the agreement is mutually beneficial. Michael Jackson may have reached "agreements" with the families of his young victims, that doesn't mean he was any less of a child molester.

I guess I didn't put it into perspective like that. Makes sense.

Wasn't this thread original about some insane nut trashing Benchmade......has nothing to do with Spyderco. I find Benchmades and Spyderco's to be decent knivess (I don't dig the hole) but both are made DECENTLY for an everyday normal human being. Now for knifenuts I personally find the need to step up to something more durable. Strider/ZT those knives are for us, hard use knives that we don't have to worry about breaking or developing blade play.

Either way I wouldn't deal with anyone blatantly trashing Benchmade on their own site. They cater to a market, the average everyday user that wants something a little better/nicer fit and finish than a walmart knife (no offense to the few decent knives they might sell). I personally think they excel at their target market.

I would put Spyderco up against Strider anyday, as far as quality goes. And, this is not coming from a Strider-hater. I've owned Strider knives, and I like them. However, their QC is very hit-or-miss. Anyways, I think you're way off-base saying that Spyderco/Benchmade are not for "knifenuts".
