I had a trident for a few years, and gifted a flash 2 to an extended family member. After a bit of use the trident started slowly falling apart, screws loosened so I lock tighted them, the clip bent, so I rebent it, normal things that happen with use. The steel was always too soft, never much cared for it but it was the tanto version so it was absurdly simply and fast to sharpen. The problem was with the arc lock, it showed some vertical play after a month of use, which was fair enough at the time, it still held and functioned well enough. After a year I could fold it under a bit of hand pressure, at that point I sold the knife to a friend who wanted to tinker with the lock. The flash 2 has some play now, but functions fine despite it. I will say that the trident had one of the best handles on a folding knife I think I've owned, grippy and comfortable.
That said I wouldn't buy another SOG with AUS8 or an arc lock. But I wouldn't mind owning one of their fixed blades or something with a well executed liner or frame lock.
