Has anyone seen this knife?

thats insane, I would raise some hell on as many forums as you can and get the word out. Even if he does sue you he will need proof that what is being said about him is untrue and show how it is hurting his livelihood. From what I understand the courts take a "sticks and stones" approach to what people say so proof will be needed on both ends. So whatever hell you do raise, make sure that it is all true and you have proof of its truthfulness.

Just on the off chance that one of us sees that knife somewhere, give us details about it. Materials, OAL, etc. I know it's a longshot, but it costs nothing to try.

You are a man of true patience. In my opinion this guy is a crooked windbag. If he has done this to you and is then threatening you while trying to give you a low ball offer on something he is responsible for he is a real piece of work. My money says that if this is the case he has done this type of thing before. After all people don't change there name because of good things they have done. I'll bet he is just trying to scare you into submission. If you have any records emails, postage receipts, ect. tell him go right ahead and sue you. In the mean time try to find others that he has wronged to back up his conniving ways. Best of luck!

$4200 is a lot of money and chances are that he does not have it just sitting around. 13 yrs is also a long time, there might a statue of limitations on suing him. Beside the picture you posted do you have any other info to provide a court? Pictures of the knives you paid him with? Unfortunately something like this comes down to hearsay.
You could send him a registered letter so he has to sign for it depicting the the timeline of events, conversations and promises made. State that if a refund or the knife is not returned than you will take legal action. Also notify the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General office in his area. You could continue to discredit his name and let him know that will cost him more in the long run than $4200 would.

Well I just got a phone call from Christian.
He offered to settle for less than 1/4 of what he owes me since he says I cant prove anything.
He also threatening to take me to court and sue me for post on these forums and suing the forums themselves for allowing me to post here.

He's just trying to scare you with the sue talk. He stole the knife, and can't sue you for stealing your knife.

I would do and edit, and put his name in the thread title. I would also start a thread on every knife forum I could.
Doesn't sound like the douche will make it right it with you, but you could help others from getting screwed by him.

Thanks everyone.
I very much appreciate the support.

Its about 4 1/4" blade, 9 1/4" overall.
Devin Thomas stainless damascus blade.
Stainless bolsters (should be at least 1/2 engraved if not fully engraved)
Plain Mammoth ivory handle.

Did you record him offering you a fraction of your money back or his threats?

No. It was over the phone and would assume he wouldn't give permission to record him so I didn't even ask.

If it was my $4200.00 I would consult an attorney and find out what if anything can be done. It may not be cheap but at least you would know. Best of luck to you.

Not every state need both parties to consent to use an audio recording in court. Some states as I understand it only need 1 side of the conversation to be consenting to use said recording in court. So if you know it's being recorded and you and he both live in a one party consent state for recording, it would play.
Granted I am no lawyer, but that is my understanding.

Sent this guy a nice little email! We ll see if he posts on here?! Best of luck my friend! But you never shouldve let that amount of money go and never shouldve let this much time go! Its just gonna work against you!

All that said, $1000 is better than nothing.

He's offering the money because he knows he can't win in court. I say go for the $4200. What's he going to sue you for? Being mad that a knife took 13 YEARS to complete? As long as what you are saying is true, it doesn't matter how much money he loses due to your negative feedback. It's the truth. The fact that he's offering you 25% of the money means he wants you to take it and shut up. Otherwise, he would have just threatened to sue you, not return your money or sue you. He's trying to scare you into taking the $1000 so that he can say you were "satisfied" with your deal. If it were me, I'd ask for the $4200, or I'd sue him. Although it is your money and your choice on how to proceed is certainly up to you.

Tough call. Without a written contract or some sort of presentable evidence that you mailed him the knife, or any evidence that he admitted to losing it, it comes down to your word against his. Then there's the statute of limitations, and the fact that you've waited 13 years and perhaps still haven't filed a police report.
