Has anyone tried the Wave and NOT liked it?

The only bad things I hear about the Wave opening feature on knives is from people that admit they have never owned one. I didn't think much of the Wave until I got one. I thought that it was hype and a extra selling point for Mall Ninjas but not something that I needed.

Now I feel that almost all knives should have the Wave just like almost all knives should have the Spyderco hole and Axis lock. An Axis locked, Spyder hole Wave knife seems like the logical choice for those in the know. Throw in a full flat ground Wharncliff blade, G-10 scales and Titanium liners and I can't think of anything more I want or need.

i love the wave. carrying two right now.

the only real complaints ive read were about tearing pants when drawing repeatedly.

Agree on the wave but I jsut cant get used to Axis lock. Im just use to liner locks or boyd dents.

Try a poor man's waving on the sypercos (put a zip tie thought the hole, works just like a wave.) I carry two Massad Ayoobs with zip ties and they open as quick and easy as my Emerson commander.

Ive been using waved knives for a while and have yet to tear pants.

I've tried a couple knives with a wave, but I'm not coordinated enough to make them work. So I don't like a wave. If it doesn't work for me, I don't want one.

I keep catching the blade and it only opens part way. Like I said, I'm not coordinated enough to use 'em. :D

Three Waved models and I still open them via disk/thumbhole 99% of the time. Go figure. But the Wave rocks, especially on the Utcom!

I'm not to fond of any waves. I have NEVER needed a knife to open that fast. I know you can flame me, but I wear a lot of khakis. Wave=ripping of the khakis = not cool.

Quick theres a zip tie that needs cut......whoooossshhh......I GOT IT!!!!! (so says a new waved knife owner)

I can draw my EDC almost as fast as a wave. Its all about the same by the time you have to reposition your grip. A wave just has the knife open while you reposition VS non wave its opening while I reposition = about the same BUT with NO rip-in of the sweet ultra cool khakis!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!...............BRING IT ON!!!!!:p :p :p

O yeah and the only sweet looking wave I'v seen on a knife, was the one I did to my Yojimbo, it just seems to fit.

I decided to give it a try with a ziptie on a Walmart Native. Worked perfectly well. But after a couple weeks, the novelty wore off and I simply didn't care about the feature any more. I eventually I cut the ziptie off and haven't missed it at all.

I think the wave is a great feature. I almost have the perfect knife. Ritter Mini-grip, OD handles, Wave, Axis lock, just wish it had G-10 Handles......Oh well cant have it all.

I, too, tried the zip tie wave on my Native. It did work great, but there is just no need for it, for me. A novelty, sure, but thats just one more reason for an LEO to give ya trouble... IMHO

I have and Emerson with the Wave. It was cool for a while. Once the gadget factor wore off, I stopped carrying it, and i haven't seen any need for it since.

 WOW I thought I was the only one that didn't like the wave:thumbup:

I just got my first one, the waved Spyderco Delica (come to think, it's my first Spyderco too, hmmm) and I like it. It seems to me that the plus of potential quick draw outweighs any minus--yes, it can get caught on something, and it might wear on the pants pocket--but an ordinary pocket clip can do that. Don't get the "why do you want the knife to open that fast?" argument, why have it be slow?

To be fair the poster who said another opening style (which specifically though?) may be slower but require less grip adjustment may have a point. But using the thumb hole (or post), I still often need to shift my grip, I generally wouldn't want to hold a knife with my hand in a "thumb's up" position in an emergency, and that's where it ends up with a "conventional" opening.

Probably practice and drill is key either way.

No more ripped pants,, and you can wear your Waved Endura in shorts and pants that are too thin to support a clipped knife..

The Waved Endura is in no way a Fad, but a very well thought out device to deploy a blade quickly and accurately..

It is here to stay and I believe one of the best things Spyderco have ever done to their blades...

I will personally buy any Spyderco knife that is Waved...

i didnt like the wave when i first tried it...didnt feel right at all...but once i used it for a day no problems and i own one now...

I don't like having to pull back slightly on the draw to make it work, sort of defeats the purpose for any SD use.

Hey Guys..

Hardheart..

Your answer then my friend is a Fixed Blade! :)

I waved a BM 806 and found it was slower than just pulling the knife and flipping it open while disengaging the AXIS lock.
