I had potential customer call me to talk about making him a Shiva like knife. he called the maker and found out he uses 1095. That made me think........
He is one fine hyper upper! For what he charges he should at least use 52100

And by the way, Chiro, you shouldn't beat yourself up about the work you do. I've enjoyed every piece you've shown us.

IG, what kind of place do you live in where the six year olds are allowed to have kids of their own? :) (I can't believe I'm the only one to catch this.)

It's the hormones in the beef

I've been wanting to start this thread for about a week now.... I decided maybe it would be better if I didn't though, I've been getting myself in enough trouble offline lately :D

I'll repeat what a lot of other guys have said. The man seems to make impressive knives, whether they meet all of his actual claims or not the customers praise them and they do seem to really perform well. I also think they have a distinctive style and I can undestand how they could earn a following.
There is a fairly good possibility he could whip me in a fight too (I'd take him in a hay throwin competition though! ;) ) But I just can't help but wonder why he has to keep telling people that stuff though. It seems to me that if you've really got the stuff you don't need the hype, and if you need the hype you must be lacking something somewhere else.
For the most part I just think its in bad taste though to say your work is "better than all of the masters" . Other bladesmiths rate their performance against a given standard, like ABS tests. There's no need to try and put other people down, or place youself on a pedestal. Let your work speak for itself.

I seem to remember hearing about another guy who said he was better than all the "old timers" . He made some knife refered to as a "blue abortion"......wonder where he is now
Never crap where ya eat, um, I mean don't let your alligator mouth over run your hummingbird....what I mean is don't be a blowhard. Hype is bad, and will bite you in the butt

there is just so much comedy in these forums lately! it's fantastic! :D
I've been glued to the computer too much reading it all though...

3-1!!! that must be the blade sitting on the "alien artifact" stand that was left here when they seeded the slime of life bla bla bla.......too good :D

I guess it could be viewed as marketing, but can you say over the top? the site kind of reminds of the street pushers selling crap out of the back of their cars.

thanks for the read guys.

So "samuri steel" is 1095? I was kinda wondering about that. I have some samuri steel I haven't used yet, maybe I should.

You never know he might be getting his steel from Cold Steel. :p

Checking out his website, I noticed that his sheaths are sloppy. The stitching is uneven and he doesn't make grooves or space it well.

1095="Samaruai steel"?

I get my D2 from Uddeholm most of the time, in Sweden it is called Sverker 21. Maybe I could call it "Magic Viking Steel" and get a lot more money for my knives...

S30V could become "Cosmic Green Beret Steel".

Maybe you folks could help me to understand---

Why in one of the rope cutting pics, does there seem to be alot of "extra" rope flying?I figured cutting rope, at high speed would make a clean cut. ( atleast thats what I saw Moran do with a 1" rope at blade a few years back)
And it says the a knife cuts a 3" maple limb with 1 chop, yep the pic shows a limb thats been chopped , and there and obvious "V" in the limb, with wood chips.
is this bad photography? I'm curious

I hear good things about the knives, but they are way too expensive and the hype is annoying - "Ranger stealth kill" "Tiger claw - deadliest CQC knife ever!" etc.

The man himself reeks of bullshit. I mean, seriously, anyone who talks about ancient warrior spirits +5 and being an Yogi mystic master has got some issues.

If you have to shout from the mountain tops of the WWW that you are a Yogic master, you ain't one. The true master touches those whom he encounters in every day life, not those whom he gathers in a cult to follow him.

The BS detector is off the charts on this one.

I keep trying to read the link but can't get past that guys AVATAR........Good Lord Almighty!!!!!!

We age fast around here. I am only 18 and look like??? Well this could be a open ended statement.  HEHEHE!!!!

Speaking of aging George....I just looked at the master's site and I think he owns stock in "Just for men" hair dye.

His knives aren't bad, not my taste, but not bad looking.

Enough of him though. I'm going back and look at that Avatar again!
