Haters love to hate on Ganzo for both aping designs from other companies and mashing up their design features. Well, Ganzo also has a line of original designs in Chinese D2. They've been making them for years now in the $25-30 range. Those knives actually debuted before brands like Civivi and Tangram shook up the budget market. They are reasonably well made and have consistently been a decent value in that $25-30 space. They've also been a great springboard for people getting into the hobby.

Well, Ganzo just passed a major milestone today that many of the haters never expected. They are now available at a "reputable dealer". BladeHQ just listed the FH923 on their site. The only head-scratcher is that they listed it for $50. That's roughly double the asking price at most any other place where this knife or others in that series are available. 🤷‍♂️

Link to non supporting dealer removed.

Maybe they have to actual meet the stated specs for the Blade HQ order? That cost a lot more money than the way Ganzo normally operates.

The Ganzo Firebird original designs aren't bad knives. They seem to have met their stated specifications on a fairly consistent basis. They are generally similar to a knife-like-object.

That being said; I'm out. Out on Ganzo and now, out on BladeHQ.

Ganzo owes a great big Mea Culpa to the assorted knife designers and manufacturers of the global community. They need to pull those bizarre, morphed clones off the market (RATs with a cloned Axis Locks, before the Axis Lock was public propriety, Et Al) Those abominations need to be removed from their revenue stream. They need to join the community of knifemakers, as have WE, Reate and Kizer, and be contributing members of the community. You can make a great knife but still be a scumbag that doesn't deserve a hard earned knife dollar.

I've bought a lot of knives from BladeHQ. I wonder if they'll notice my business is gone.
Any comments, BladeHQ BladeHQ ?

Also, in on ONE!

That's because BladeHQ did not list it by the actual model number and the knife doesn't otherwise have a name. You can either follow my link directly to the BladeHQ listing or just look in their "New Arrivals" section. It's still on the first page as of now.

The hate is strong with this one!

You're really gonna boycott BladeHQ because they sell one model of Ganzo (at double price)?!?

BTW, they are not "vaguely similar to knife-like-objects". They are just budget knives and honestly, among the better performers in the sub-$30 range. That's a big problem here. At $50, it's up against much better competition like the Sencut knives from WE.

IMO , aside from the intellectual property issues , Ganzo knives are generally OK for the regular street prices .

Definitely NOT at 2X $$$$ .

Yes. There are lots of places to buy knives. I explained myself in my first post, why not address that rather than grandstanding.

Oh, wait. Nevermind. You go ahead and be you. I’ll be me. I’m sure the world will get by just fine.

Meh, not for me. But I'm not their target audience, so 🤷‍♂️

Also Chronovore Chronovore if you're gonna make a thread acknowledging that supporting a specific company is controversial, you should expect people to have opposing viewpoints. Maybe instead of dismissing people with opinions different from yours as being "haters," you should perhaps take more time considering the reasons and logic behind their opinions.

Obviously Hackenslash Hackenslash has a strong moral opposition to Ganzo and any retailer that carries their product. Why? Maybe because BladeHQ will broaden the market for Ganzo products, increasing their sales and thus giving Ganzo more revenue by which to produce more products - which could include additional clones or other forms of stolen intellectual property. So even if you find it acceptable to purchase Ganzo knives from BladeHQ, you should also try to understand the perspective of those that don't find it acceptable.

Anyone surprised by the Chinese bold-faced imitating/duplicating intellectual property should go to their doctor now to get whatever meds they need to help them get through what's coming by storm. Sure, it pisses me off, but then I have yet to see them do it well. To beat them at that game we'll have to do something American companies have been doing since before our beginning as a country - innovate. Innovate, and do it so quickly that anyone copying it will always be a step or two behind. Have one great idea and then sit on your laurels - you'll fail. This is the monster of globalization, played in this small arena.

I recently saw a video of the president of Basset furniture, according to him the last US company making furniture. He had spoken with one of the Chinese manufacturers and asked how they could sell furniture at the low prices they were asking. The Chinese rep said "We consider this the tuition we pay to run Americans out of the business".

Food for thought, whichever side of the argument you're on.
