Haute Route 2010

Than you for the outstanding pics. That's a beautiful place and hiking the Haute Route is one of my dreams.

I love the Alps and will have to do this route some day. I'm lucky enough to have family in Zurich but usually only go to Europe in winter ski. Great photos! Have you hiked the via ferrata?

8 Days you have some great self control my man ! Great pictures awsome hike .

Next night we spend at camping site in Arolla, nice place, but you have to pay for showers. Top picture - all our stuff, really not much, but eventhough it was bout 30pounds in my backpack.

We had a "few" beers with english guys in english style, and a little hangover. Next day - slow descent along villages and some ascent to find a place for a tent. Got cough by rain(we were afraid of storm, but i didn't come) and I had to set a tent in record time.

After that we took a sunbath, but for obvious reasons I cannot show you those pictures.

Well Idaho... you're a lucky man in more ways then one :D

I like the tent, how did it hold up?

Looks a great trip, good scenery + good weather + good company. What more can you ask for.

This would have been a great picture if not for the distracting scenery

That ladder is just incredible.I've never seen anything like that before. All the pictures are incredible. The beauty is amazing but that ladder picture...don't think I could climb that.

I was talking with couple from US that took alternative route. That day we spend at least 5 hours jumping from rock to rock, and alternative route was well, almost vertical jumping from rock to rock, just a step from climbing, and the ground was VERY, VERY loose and slippery. They said that they were really afraid.
And ladders - if you dont have vertigo you just have to hold and stand. And don't look down, of course :D

Yes, we stumbled upon each other online, and planned to do GR-20 on Corsica first, but decided to move that to 2011. We agreed about nature of relationship in advance(she had boyfriend and so), and boy that was hard to live 8 days together in a tent, here is why :D

You find her online, and I get stuck with Marcelo and Big Mike... I'm doing something wrong:mad:

Seriously though, Beautiful pictures!!:thumbup::thumbup:
What a great trip!

The Europeans really have it together with their trail systems. I backpacked across Norway years ago and the hut/trail system was excellent. Great pictures Idaho, looks like you had a fantastic trip. And a tip of the hat to you for accompanying the pretty lady in a gentlemanly manner.

Idaho,

Thanks for the wonderful photos and great trip report. I vote this the best photo series posted this year!

What an incredible place! I love looking at those glaciers. (Although it was very nice seeing your hiking companion, as well....)

Is there a hike anywhere that can match the beauty of that trip?

Stay sharp,
desmobob
