Haute Route 2010

Well Idaho... you're a lucky man in more ways then one :D

I like the tent, how did it hold up?

Very good, actually. It is an old, discontinued model. 3kg, 2 persons.

I prefer tunnel tents to iglo, as they give more internal volume per kg, and are 100% dry when setting up during rain. But they need flat space, and need to be stretched correctly.

@Idaho

What maps did you use on your hike? Was the trail well-marked?

Did you walk the classic route with the glacier crossings, or the low-level variation?

The Haute route is on my list along with Sarek in Sweden, and the Pyrenean Haute Route.

We had a map, but skiing map by accident. We did lower HR, no glaciers crossing.
The only map/manual we used was Cicerone Guides "Walkers Haute Route" book. That is all. The trail is marked quite well, although you need to know WHERE you want to get. I was never afraid we would get lost.

Thanks for sharing some truly awesome pics.
I love the fact that I can live vicariously thru you guys!!

Man, I'd love to go and do that. :thumbup:

The hiking guys, the hiking!

What kind of knife did she have? :D

If I was there, I'd be able to tell you. She'd have poked me with it after the 3rd night of having to not "think" about it, LOL.

Great pictures! I just added Haute Route to my list. Thanks for posting.

Just amazing.
