Have You Found The One.....Or Are You

Haven't found the grail yet. I may someday, though. I'd like the knife that Francis Marion carried...

My Benchmade 940 is close to "the one."
But to wax philosophical for a moment, I'm not sure there ever can be one knife to rule them all because the very best knife for each task and every occasion is rarely the same.
The obvious exception is this, which just OWNS:

(Does YOUR knife have spikes on it???)

As a knife collector, I've never been interested in finding "the One", I'm more interested in "the Next One".

MY GRAIL!!!!

:barf:

Been searching and trying all kinds of various knives, and I think I'm getting closer. From what I can tell, it's some sort of carbon steel fixed blade, probably in the four to six inch range, most likely clip or drop-point.

I was out of the knife circuit for a long time. Checked in a couple of years ago and picked up a few newer Spydercos:

Orange Military
Sage2
G10 Endura

Oddly enough, although they're fine knives, I still EDC my old FRN Endura3 just because it's so light to carry and I'm comfortable with it after so many years.

A big part of my everyday carry is a knife in a belt sheath, for a back-up for my sometimes smaller pistol when hiking. This Benchmade is what I'm carrying at the moment. Locks up solid and it's large enough to feel capable, plus it's got a thin and very sharp slicer blade.

My first knife other than SAKs was a Spyderco Stretch CF/ZDP-189. It's probably still the one, but 60 or so knives later, the M4 AFCK might be the one, or a G10 Delica with swapped ZDP-189 serrated blade, but the titanium/G10/M4 Military from Knifeworks could be the one too, or now that I'm mostly buying fixed blades, I think the Fallkniven TK6 might be the one, but it could also be a BRKT Loveless Hunter

FOr urban EDC carry I have found the knife:

I am still looking good combo. Its hard to beat Vic Pioneer + Friction folder though.

For hikes and camping I am still looking. I got some good knives, but I won't stop buying them just yet.

Very nice friction folder....who made it? thanks!

Michael Morris, going in these forums under alis Mykulmorris. Check his site at:
Michaelmorrisknives.com. My choice has 2.2" blade. I wanted it to be as close 91mm Victorinox mainblade's length as possible. Making it useful and legal for urban edc for most area's.

For me "the one" is my Chris Reeve Umnumzaan. Use if for everything and just enjoy how it opens, closes and feels in the hand.
