Have you guys seen this.

Thats just plain stupid, sacrificing 2 knives for ca. 5 min of YouTube time. But hey, im not going to be the judge on what people choose to do with their money and time.

It is entertaining at the very least. And you know, it answers that question. His money, his knives, and he can do what he wants with 'em. I for one liked watching it, despite the cringe inducing subject matter. Maybe it is because I am a guy that likes to watch stuff get destroyed, but I thought it was pretty darn cool.

Maybe because I'm still fairly new to knives, and steel, but I'm not quite sure what this "test" is proving. What is his conclusion? I understand that the divot is smaller on the Esee than the Becker, but what exactly does that mean?

A very cringe inducing video--I can't help but think of the waste of money....

Dear warranty department....

I would say the results look right about what I would expect. One knife destroyed the other slightly more.

This is certainly useful information in case I need to baton my way through hardened steel in a SHTF situation.

Painfull to watch. What a waste!

I like both brands, this does not change my opinion in any way.

Wow. What a waste! Those two are the only ESEE and Becker knives that I have, and I'd hate to ruin two very good knives. As said, his money, his decision, but I still think it's a waste of money.

seems like the BK2's apparently thinner edge gave until it met thicker metal. he really didn't make a lot of progress past either point.

in order to do that test well, you need hydraulics, and equal support for both. ideally, you'd want to test tip to handle as well.

good thing he showed the serial numbers. guess ESEE doesn't have to warranty that one :)

Toooj, hope you don't see this one come through :)

Well, I guess if I was trapped by a wall of BK2s, this test has proven that my only way out would be with an ESEE 5. This is a horrible video.

I also think he thought the results were going to be a little more impressive... life the ESEE was just going to melt the BK2 on contact. A 1/16th of an inch difference in the chips were hardly impressive, shocking, noteworthy, remarkable, extraordinary, groundbreaking, significant or interesting.

Damn. That guy owes me a new thesaurus.

Knowing Jeff, he would replace it if the owner sent it in. However the owner would be put on the infamous list of asshats.

However the person who did the tests is a member here, whom I believe would never consider sending those knives in to be replaced. He did say, if Tooj wanted the knife for inspection he would gladly send it in for that, but not take any replacement.

I don't see the point of that test, and it has no bearing on how a knife will perform in it's intended use. Unless sword fighting is its intended use....

doesn't appear that he actually cut through the knife.

a win for the BK2 ;)

through some serrations on there, sharpen it back up. no problem.

"it's a wire breaker" :)

snerk
