Have you guys seen this.

I'm still trying to figure out what he was trying to prove... How dumb it is to beat two knives together? I just don't get it.

I don't believe his intent was to disrespect anyone....there is a lot of interaction between beckerheads and esee folks because the friendships and simularities of philosophies....this was the result of some of a joke about being able to do it.....well...someone called him on it...so he did it...He even said he owns another of each blade and would not give up either.....I love my bk2 and my esee knives...but this was just some harmless horseplay and i don't think any malace was intended...imho

I never posted in the thread b/c it was a simple waste of 2 great blades..... I betcha neither one will be returned for warranty work though....

That was the most fun I've had all day! I want him to shoot both handles with a .30-06 now and show us the results! And then maybe run the sheaths through a chipper. That was awesome. I loved it. MORE!!!!

What a waste of blades, thats all I need to say....

Honestly, this video is very impressive and proves once and for all that a determined man can ruin two nice knives with a hammer and a vice. Who would have thought that?

The one thing it does prove, is that some people are going to think his results mean that the ESEE 5 is a "better" knife.
The BK2 has a thinner edge, and the grind starts higher up. This is an obvious outcome, more damage to the thinner metal.
He has yet to finish the test, his original claim was that he could baton "through" a BK2. I want to see him cut through the 1/4" thick part.
I own both knives, and have enough common sense to predict his current test, without damaging two perfectly new knives.
They are his knives, do what ever. I just feel that it's a useless test, and only "feeds" the uninformed knife buyer more useless info.

I agree with you ,waste of 2 great knives...

you oughta see the pics of return ESEE knives cut into with a grinder just to test the warranty...Stupid stuff all day long

Ok, first, eveyone cool your jets, TAGannon is a good guy, and an ESEE/Becker supporter. We don't treat people here in the manner some of you have been carrying on. I do think some of ya'll owe him an apology.

Second, I have actually thought about doing this, but its not a very conclusive test, as the BK2's thinner edge and higher grind, gave, but once the same thickness of metal started colliding, that was the end of the forward progression of each knife through the other.

Thanks Tom, it was an entertaining video, though, in my opinion, not very conclusive in which is stronger or tougher, just thinner on the edge.

I do own both, and I do use both and both are damn good blades.

Third, I know how much he spent to bring ya'll this video, and for what that ESEE5 cost, he could have beat two BK2's together as well as the BK2 and the ESEE5.:D

DANG! I was gonna say that, but you beat me to it. Well, actually, you explain what I was going to say is my conclusion from that test: the BK-2 is going to be the better cutter/slicer of the two, BECAUSE.... of everything you said. And that is the reason I bought the BK-2 instead of the ESEE-5. Better slicer for cheaper, with 99% (OK, maybe 95% after the video) or the toughness.

Don't get me wrong, I like all the ESEE stuff, too, and think it is a great company. But the BK-2 design appealed to me more, and I don't regret the decision one bit. Even equal cost, I would have gotten the BK-2.

OH, and nothing against TAGannon at all. I salute him for having the cajones to destroy two (of HIS) knives like that.

After reading through the thread over in the Esee forum, he apparently did this as a "put your money where your mouth is." I can appreciate that--he was willing to back up a claim of batonning through a BK2 with a Esee5 While I still cringe at the thought of what was done, I have to say kudos for going through with it.

There is also talk of him finishing the test by batonning to failure of one of the knives--I would enjoy seeing that.

I will admit the biggest reason I find it so awful is I like both knives.
I'm jealous. He has knives to destroy for fun.
We all know they are tough knives.

i clicked...i watched...i cringed...money better spent on hookers and blow.

I'm staying out of it. I was raised not to be wasteful. That's all I'm gonna say about the whole production.

His knives, his money - whatever. I didn't care for his condescending tone but again - it's his video.

First, am I mis-pronouncing ESSE? I say it eh-see, is it supposed to be E-C? Anyhow, I worried that my beloved (new) BK-2 was going to be humiliated, but after watching I think my only conclusions are these: 1. What a sad waste of two great knives, and 2. Both are quality, no doubt.
P.S.-I'll take the remains of the two he destroyed... busted or not I'd still play with them! :D
