Having headaches again!

I've just become aware of your trials as well. Prayers from me and my family...

I really wish u the best of health and to get rid of those headaches.

Could it be psychological? Something linked to jobs and interviews? If I remember correctly, you posted about those headaches in the spyderco forum in the past. It was in similar circumstances.

Get well.

I suffered migrane headaches so bad that I was missing 2 and 3 days of work weekly. After trying several kinds of meds I saw a neurologist who put me on DEPAKOTE ER 500MG. I take two of these every morning and havent had a serious migrane in about three years, thank God. Depakoke is a anti brain seizure medication and as far as drugs go it's a pretty benign substance, and well tollerated. Dr's check my liver function every year because I'm on it, but is it ever worth it. Occasionally I feel a migrane coming on, say every 4 months or so. When this happens I take two Aleve and in 15 mins it's gone. I know what you're referring to with the vision ect. I also experianced lights and speech issues. NO MORE...............................

I'm sorry to hear that you are still hurting and wonder what you would feel like if you took a vacation in somewhere like Denver, Co (5280 ft above sea level) or Santa Fe NM (almost 7000 ft above sea level). Continued prayers from SoCal and Thanks for hanginf around the various forums and contributing. Your input is always welcome.

I know having a headache makes reading this huge post difficult, but please bear with me. . .

I had blinding, nauseating migranes when I was younger, and now I have a constant light-sensitive, dull, twisting headache in my forehead that horribly affects my vision and ability to think. Ths has been present to varying degrees for as long as I can remember. Point is, I don't have the excrutiating pain you do, but I can understand to some degree.

Anyway, I didn't read this whole thread, so it may have been mentioned, but give some serious thought to manly stretching (women call it Yoga). I thought yoga was a load of crap until I tried some various simple stretches, combined with the right breathing, to relax and align muscles. I had a lower back problem that doctors couldn't diagnose, and would sometimes keep me off my feet. Within a WEEK of daily manly stretching, My back felt 100 times better, and I even noticed that my headaches almost disappeared. The circulation, ogygen, and flexibility benefits are instantly noticable, and affect every aspect of your physiology.

I know how annoying it can be when someone tells you some kooky remedy will work for you, but give this stuff a try. I'm definitely not calling this a cure, just something that might help. Just learn simple yoga positions that will stretch your back and neck, and learn the basic breathing concepts. It is impressive how much of an effect limbering and oxygenating your muscles will have on your brain. The fact that this simple stuff worked so well absolutely blew my mind.

I sincerely hope you get some benefit if you try Manly Stretching. Good luck.

And remember, MEN don't do "Yoga!":D

TKC, please PM the name of your new doctor--having trouble locating

Hang in there,

PM sent!! THANK YOU my friend.

Jamesh Bond: Thank you too.

God bless you all!

I am sorry that it has been so long since I have posted an update about this! I am STILL dealing with the headaches etc. The Neurologist id still trying different meds. The Neurontin IS helping with the tingling of the face, hands feet, and the feeling that my leg(s) is on fire. So, that is good.
I found out recently that referrals expire. I had a referral to this doctor(Neurologist) from the bad Primary Care that I had; and the referral for my Neurologist has expired. AND I got rid of that bad PC! I have since changed from that PC to a new PC, that I have never seen.
So I get this call from NEW PC, regarding a referral. (I did NOT have the info. about expiring referrals yet.) I had no clue why. OK, so I am a new patient, and they are booking new patients into Sept. BUT, they get ME an appointment for May 8th, which is great. I get a call from Neuro's office stating that that have to cancel my current appointment for Neuro & Neuroopthamologist; which are now respectively scheduled for June & July. (And YES, I AM on the cancellation list.) Good grief!! (all this makes me wish I was independently wealthy!!) OY.
The referral Neurologist I saw suggested a Tai Chi class and Yoga. I tried a Tai Chi class, and THAT made my headache soooooooooo much worse the night of the class. And the next day, I couldn't BE veritcal with out throwing up for 8 hours. It was bad. The pain was incredible! I laid in bed asking to please let me die, for those 8 hours. And then there is Yoga, and that has NOT made my headache worse. I really like Yoga. It is 2x a week. And depite the agony I am in, I go!!
I think that catches you guys up. My memory is horrid due to the headcahe. Thanks for listening.

Thank you both!!

I am sorry that it has been so long since I have updated everyone. The headache has affected my short term memory, and I forgot about this therad! If it wasn't for one of you sweet guys that PMed me today to see how I was doing, you wouldn't have gotten the update today.

Ah, no guitarted. YES, I have had the headache for a YEAR.

I visited a chiropractor long ago for my back problem.I had a sinus pressure headache too & I told him. Smiling,he put a temperture band around my brow & showed me the reading. He said something was out of line in my upper spine-neck area.

After the manipulations I began to lose the headache & felt much like a kid again. The upper alignment sounded like small tree branches snapping .

I understand the medical profession does not consider that method of relief as quackery anymore.

Love & caring wishes !

I have been there done that with Chiropractic care!! Thank you though. It was a good thought.

I am still in miserable pain. The Neurontin IS helping with the tingling and burning sensations that I get. But, isn't doing anything for the headache.

I'm just wondering where you got the impression that the medical community does not consider it as quackery anymore?

Daughter was rear-ended so violently that groceries from her tronk went through her windshield . Her banks insurer gladly paye her bills there.

I believe VA resorts to it too. Not positively sure .
